Policosanol

Fonz posted some info on policosanol a couple months ago and I decided to give it a try. High cholesterol runs in my family but not CVD so I'm really not worried at this point. I've been on 20mg/day of Policosanol for 2 months and got my blood work checked again.

Levels as of October 9th ... LDL:159 and HDL:69

Levels as of December 10th ... LDL: 144 and HDL:71

So in two months LDL improved by 9.3% and HDL by 2.8%

Does anyone else have results or experience with policosanol. Would a higher dose be more effective or is 20mg/day enough. Also, how much farther could I expect my levels to fall with all other factors being the same?

im getting some soon.
nice to see someone else 's blood work
do you think there are other factors that could attribut e the lowering of LDL ??

Id say its worth it, if i can lower it by 10 %

Thanks rjl296, I was a bit skeptical when I saw the claims for this stuff. My doctor had been trying to get me on Lipitor but I didn't think I'm ready for that yet so I thought I'd give the policosanol a try.

There weren't any other factors that I'm aware of as to why the LDL went down. I kept the same diet (lots of meat and eggs) and wasn't on anything then or now.

Also, since I had my doubts about the stuff, I just bought the cheap Walmart brand Policosanol that was made out of bees wax. Apparently wax from suger kane is more effective.
