I'm 15 years old and I'm a baseball player. Im very strong in cardio, I run a 5:40 mile and I have almost no fat on me. I need to gain muscle to get better at the sport I love but my mom won't let me lift weights because she says its dangerous. My dad wants me to lift weights but I don't live with him. How do I gain muscle without lifting? By the way I'm 5'9" 140 pounds

But anyways you can do push up pull ups sit ups no weight squats just do what you can until you can get in the gym Man good luck with that.

tell her I said weightlifting is the safest sport out there. I have been doing this for 15 years and I have never gotten injured weightlifting. but i've gotten injured playing soccer, football, running etc.. weightlifting is totally safe. the only way to get injured lifting is to lift too much weight vs. what you are capable of. in other words being stupid. or something freakish like a weight falling on your toe or something.. again being stupid and wreckless. baseball is far more dangerous, imagine if the ball hits you anywhere on the body or a bat splits and goes flying at you.

tell her to PM me if she wants to discuss this further

^^^ that too but I also remember being 15 even tho I was a little asshole and did whatever I felt like certain shit my mom said I DAMN sure didn't do lol!

Your mother worries way too much it sounds like. If there is no possible way you can get into a weight room, then do as many body weight movements as possible. Do pushups, pull ups, etc and tie something around your waist to add weight when doing pull ups, and throw something on your back doing pushups. Grab a can of paint or something with a handle and do curls....etc.

All of those things will help to build strength and muscle. Sometimes you have to improvise and do what you have to.

First of all pay no attention to the people telling you to do it behind your moms back. Respecting and honoring your parents is a desirable characteristic. At 15 doing push ups pull ups sit ups deep squats will be sufficient for the next 6 months. Heck, Herschel Walker played professional football and never lifted weights. He got all of his strength training from doing the above listed movements. After 6 months and your mom see how much the hard work pays off she probably will allow you to work out then. Also don't go crazy on all the supplements remember you're still 15. Good luck to you...and enjoy your age it's a great time to live!
