Playstation 2 question

I was wondering if anyone's heard of "Region Free" for the playstation 2? It's basically a disc that will allow you to play dvd's in...you guessed it...any region. Since you know the encoding for the U.S. is region 1, U.K. region 2, and so on. Just wondering. Here's a link I found on it.

Yeah chip your PS2 and you'll be able to play games and movies from any region. You'll be able to play burned games too. The link doesn't work.

Dammit everyTIME I put a link in here it screws up. Anyway..."chip my Ps2"? Sorry man, I'm ignorant. I've heard of getting a mod chip but I wouldn't know where to look or how. Actually don't have much info at hand. Could you help me out on this?

You have to buy a chip, online unless you know someone local and open up your PS2 and solder it to a few wires on the on the board. If you're not handy with a soldering gun I'd get someone to do it for you if I were you. But it's not that hard. I know a few people with the messiah chip. I'm gonna get one when I get a DVD burner.

Thanks man!! I'm gonna try that. I know a guy that deals with this sort of thing. I'm going to talk to him about it and see if he could put it in, because with my luck...I'd end up screwing something up.
