currently, BB shrugs on Monday, after chest, 3x15 then either behind the back shrugs 3x12-15 or DB shrugs 3x12-15, so about 4-6 sets total

on tuesday i do pullups 3x12-15 after my leg workout, just to get some blood flowin:)

then on back day:

BB rows - 3-5x3-8 (so basically, 5x5 or 3x8, 5x3, etc)
Deadlift or Rack Deads - same as BB rows
pullups - 3xfailure
underhand grip pulldowns - 2x15

thats bout it, i hit it hardcore once a week... traps twice week:)

ive neglected my biceps for 4 months :( but i just got back on track, ill post more pics after summer

For some reason I wasn't all that impressed with Ken Waller. Mike is a great guy, but during his competitive career he had too many imbalances in his physique.

I think Waller was too 'small' by the time the 80's came around. I wouldn't place him above 215-220. I think he was the same height as Arnold, only so much smaller. He was impressive, but when compared to guys like Arnold, Mentzer, and even a smaller, but ripped to shreds Zane, he just didn't seem like much.

He says he didn't do well in later contests due to Pumping Iron. People viewed him as an asshole, and would boo him offstage. I believe this. I also think thats why Arnold was booed off the 80 Olympia stage. I don't think it was because of him not being in top shape. I looked at a ton of pics from that show. Zane looks way off. Although I love Mentzer, his pec developement looks poor during the show. And the rest of the competition during that show just didn't look all that great. Even Arnold when he is 'off' knows how to show the best out there. I think he was booed off for being a dick during Pumping Iron.

As for Mike Katz, I feel the same way. I think he was huge. But something about his developement didn't look 'right'. Some parts just didn't match up. Almost like a puzzle that wasn't put together right. I can't put a finger on it, but if you look at him, you can just see it. But I think Mike was a great guy. A really caring person.

yeah, in the days of draper, robbie, arnold, franco and nubret, waller was just WAY outclassed. In the pumping iron reunion show he said he still gets shit about the t-shirt. people used to BOO him off the stage when the film was first released. good for him...

You seem not to like him that much;) . I think he retired from competition in 1981.

is that good or bad? :) :(

You are more compact. . which means that filling out your frame is easier as well as gaining strength. You would make a good middle weight bodybuilder if you play your cards right.

ken didn't actually steal the shirt

in the interview with arnold about 'pumping iron's 25th anniversary, he said mike was looking for his shirt, and that many weeks later the directors/producers decided to film the scenes where waller was plotting to steal the shirt to add more drama to the movie.

so ken didn't actually steal the shirt, that was added later to stir things up

Thanks for the info. I never took the whole shirt theft to be that serious.

yes i am 5'3. so my head is too small?

Oak, man, you oughta be calling yourself "ThePriest" or "TheFranco"! I love Arnold, too, but you're built along the lines of a Danny Padilla or Columbu.

You're doing great so far...shorty ;) You could be a giant killer. Stay off the sauce as long as you can; then, should you decide to use, I think you could actually be a good lightheavy. You might not be at the upper-end of that class, but given your progress so far I wouldn't put it beyond ya :)

thanx man, oh no doubt i love Franco for his incredible strenght and size... i like priest too. giant killer, ha.. there are some haters in my gym towards me, i dont mind, i just wanna pump heavy iron.. i dont know if i wanna compete... id rather be 175 benching 405+ than be like most of the body builder types in my gym who can only bench 225-275 but they weigh 200-235+.

i really wanna post a pic of my lats, but someone else needs to take the pic for me.. maybe today ill do it :)

Exactly, at your height there is no need for sauce. You may get stronger, but ultimately you can ruin your physique. Your gains have been great so far staying natural.

Hell yes bro. . .you and me both will be increasing our calories. Hit the chinese buffets. . .good healthy food, plus loaded with nutrition. Polish it off with some tapioca pudding.;)

If you are weight between 165 and 180, you need to eat between 3500 and 4000 calories a day to gain weight.

Hell, I have to have 4500 to 5000 calories per day to gain weight. . . damn fast metabolism!!

dammit, thats alot of food...., i guess ill have to buy some weight gainer shakes.. that worked for me before..

tell me if this is good, my friend took D-bol for 2 months, gained 20 pounds in weight adn put 40 pounds on his major lifts. but now hes off and lost most of his strenght, but kepts his size...

Me on the other hand, gained 12 pounds in weight and 20 pounds on my bench, 50 pounds on my squat, 100 pounds on my deadlift (no joke), and my weight went up on other lifts as well, in a matter of 2.5 - 3 months...

which is better???:)

Well lets put it this way, your buddy on D-Bol is back to ground zero, while you continue to make gains. Plus, during his cycle he probably altered his body chemistry (hormone production and flow). Always remember, if you are getting stronger. . .you are getting bigger. You can still maintain your health while you become bigger and stronger. I mean look at B Fold. . ..he is 100 percent natural and is deadlifting over 700lbs, plus is one of the strongest amateur "strongman" in the United States". He attributes his gains in strength and size to food and hard work. Check out his easy bench press with 430lbs.

very tru. im not gonna put down B fold at all, but my partner, the one i talk about from time to time, is 180 and can bench press 455, he is totally natural, if anything HE is franco compared to me :( i have seen him squat 585, but ever since he started construction, it went down to 405:( but... i WISH i can post a video or pic of him.. can u imagine a guy who is 5'5 180, curling 185 for 3-4 reps??? HE DOES IT... but, i saw B fold, nice job BTW...

That is amazing weight for 180lbs!!! Curling his bodyweight for reps is amazing. He should be powerlifting.

How long has he been training and he working all the time or is he in school as well.

startes when he was 14, broke the IL State Viking record when he was 16 for bench press, 145 class benching 315. he would have took over all, but someone beat him in squat and deadlift. no college, just full time contruction for about 2 years, works 8-10 hours, then after the gym he goes to sleep, he has no life, haha.

hes goin after the 495 bench, he could care less about bringin his squat and deadlift up, he walks 30-60 flights of stairs a day and breaks concrete all day... im suprised he is still making gains. in no way is his lower body weak, he still hits 405 on squat and deads, i think he just has no motivation to get his lower body stronger.. he complains his back hurts everyday from work.. so, basically, he is workin on his upper body.

I think thats complete bullshit that Waller didn't steal the shirt. I read that interview too in Flex, and it seems to me like Arnold was just trying to make excuses for why him, and some of his friends were dicks back then. He talks about how he was really friends with Lou, and how Lou's dad was good to him. Bs!

First off, at the actual CONTEST, Mike asks Grant if he's seen his shirt, Grant then tells Mike that Waller had it. If the whole t-shirt thing was staged months AFTER the contest, then why would Grant tell Mike that Waller had it during the contest? Big ass loop hole right there.

And whats this shit Arnold was talking about how Lou's dad was good, and how Arnold was friends with Lou. Lou has mentioned many times that his father was mentally abusive, and that he now forgives his father.

I think that whole article from Flex was bs.

Thats too bad. . .construction pays good, but you get an ass beatin' from it. We had a guy at our high school that had the national record in Bench Press and deadlift in the 140lb class. It was 1994 and he was pressing 308 and deadlifting 510. Hell thats 10 years ago, and obviously athletes are stronger and bigger these days. Hell there are probably 7th graders out there pressing close to 400lbs.

Did the article in Flex has any recent pictures of these guys? My subscription ended months ago because i was sick of all the adds and same training methods.

Yes, there have been a few recent pics of the guys in Flex lately. Also in the updated version of Pumping Iron, they show the guys today.

Waller looks like a frail old man. He just looks horrible. Mike Katz looks like a jolly old fat man. Ed Corney looks ok for a man who couldn't even walk until recently. Franco looks good, not big by any means, but just good and healthy.

Arnold looks good, especially now that he got ready for T3 (heres some on the set pics from T3: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=1295467 and http://forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=1295475

Lou Ferrigno looks the best. He looks just as good as he did in 75, and then some. He is still HUGE.

They didn't show Serge, Robby, etc. But I did see some recent pics of Robby, and he is still swole. Then again, he's been doing the Masters O up until just a few years ago.

Once I get my digital camera working, I'll take some screen shots from the Annv Special, and try to get them on a website for you.

yeah it did have recent pics

they all looked pretty big, lou looked good, so did franco

katz looked good besides his hideous hairstyle

as for the shirt, it makes sense that they filmed it after, he pointed out how they filmed the scene where the guys were throwing the football around and ken was plotting to steal the shirt after the contest, and this makes sense.

you don't plan on stealing a tshirt that far in advance, and how lucky was it they were there filming and the guys were talking loud and shit, too set up for me

But how do you explain Mike Katz asking Paul Grant DURING the contest if he's seen his t-shirt, and Paul telling Mike that Waller had it?

If Waller didn't really take the shirt, and it was staged way after the contest, then how come Paul told Mike that Ken stole it? Also during the Annv. Special Waller admits he took it.

I am looking for the software that runs my digital camera, it's around here somewhere. As soon as I find it, I'll take pics of all of them. It's weird seeing them all so old though, I'll tell you that much.

The oak84 or whatever, talking about your head size. That's ironic, it's sound's like your head's as big as the gym you work out in. 5'3, please, who can't put muscle on that frame. grow up.

What are you going on about?

Oakie has reason to be proud. I'd say he's put on a fair sight more muscle than MOST 5'3" guys EVER do.
