Personal Best Lift-Seated Military D-Bells

Zerxes

New member
I finally decided to bump up from #110's today during my Shoulder routine, to #120's. I got them for a clean set of 3 with no help. The thing that I am most proud of though is that I ask for no help in getting the dumbbells into position, nor do I get help "out of the hole" on the initial rep. Just thought I'd share. Not bragging, but I'm sure you guys can appreciate being proud of a plateau broken yes? Noone else in my gym exept maybe one guy(the guy who I scored Percs off of tonight ironically:p) could ever even get that much D-Bell weight into position. Of course I live in East Bumblefuck too so thats really no big thing.

Thats a really solid MP. I use 120's too, usually for 5-6 reps. No question that first rep is killer, feels more like 160.

Exactly brother! I always preferred to get that first rep myself, because I feel that it helps on other upper body power exersises like Bench Press because of the lack of negative. Similar to how Deads help your Squats for the same reason. When you go to a Power Lift that you do start with a negative on, it makes the lift alot easier since the muscles have adapted to some heavy weight used without one. If that makes sense.

Nice, I can bang out the 125's for 7 reps...no help on the first either. It's probably my best lift.

best for me is the 110's for 6, im a weakling i guess

Well if you are, then so am I brother. Thats what I was getting #110's for. I think that's pretty damn good. Some green for ya comin'!

at what angle do you guys do this lift?

I do it practically sitting straight upright myself with the back board at about 85-90 degrees but someone told me recently that it was better to have the back board at more of an incline, say at about 75 degrees.Just curious.

Awesome Zerxes. I am able to do the 110's for 6 most the time. The gym I go to goes up to 150's I think and I'm only 20 so I figure I will have to switch gyms in a few years.:D

I'm not sure precisely what the angle is brother, but I do them on a utility bench. I put the back at one notch below what would be a 90 degree angle if the seat were left flat. I usually put the seat up at an angle as well to keep my ass from sliding out of the thing.

Thanks for the kudos btw fellas!

Holy shit! You guys must be large and in charge. I do 85's x 5, and I feel like I'm the man. Guess I still got some work to do.
