I AM SO FED UP!
I started my new pills in January...........the last normal period I had was Jan 7th. It has ALWAYS been normal since the very first time I started! I've stopped the Ortho Tri-Cyclen (I know most of you caught my thread before), and I've started Ovcon, currently in the middle of my 2nd month taking it. I was spotting like crazy at the end of Jan..........and I'm spotting again. I thought I had my period already, but it didn't even last a full day. Then today I thought I started, but I guess not.

Anyone have this problem before? I'm tired of this!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Yep, that's pretty much what just happened to me. Was always regular, then I spotted for 18 days straight this past month! Doc says its the Lunelle's fault.

Spotting is a common side of the low-dose (low estrogen) pills.

higher estrogen pills have potential sides of depression, weight gain, naseaua, & breast tenderness (among others, I think).

I stick with the low dose pills & just deal with the spotting.. I get it maybe for a week mid-cycle, & light period for a week when I'm supposed to have it. It beats the miserable, sobbing, hating-life mess I was on the higher dose pills. Also beats condoms & my diaphragm. When are they coming out with a men's pill?????

Oh - and they say sometimes it can take up to 3 mos for you to 'adjust' to a new pill, so you may end up adjusting & the sides go away - but maybe not.

Grrrrrrreat......... :redhot:

I know, I know - I felt the same way :(

Seriously though, it does beat the options (have you ever used a diaphragm? ICK) & I had considered the depo provera... but then you risk all those same sides you get with the pill 'cept if you get the sides - you're STUCK for 3 mos - nothing you can do about it! :worried: No way!

They need to release that men's pill! Several years ago I read of trials they were doing in Germany.

My girlfriend is going for the IUD. You should read up on it on the World Health Organization's website. There is a lot of disinformation about it floating around, doctors appear to be misinformed about it also, as they are taught the old studies on it, but it has come a long way in the past 20 years.

Period/Water retention at Competition

What do you do about the bloating/water retention if a competition happens to fall when you are due for your period? I know I can't be the only bb this has happened to. My last competition I looked like a water-retaining cow! I would insert an image here so y'all could see but I can't figure out how to do so. I can't talk about this with my trainer--he's a guy. Yeah, I know he's probably talked about it with other women, but I still can't make myself bring it up.:o

NRC-
You actually might want to start a thread on this (worth it's own thread).

Muscle & fitness hers magazine had a good article on the pill a while back. You can try their web site to see if it's still there, www.muscleandfitnesshers.com

One competitor said she hadn't realized just how much water she was retaining all the time till she went off the pill. But it is possible (& not harmful) to start up another pack of pills & skip the inert pills for that week you are supposed to have your period.
