peck tear

bros...need some help!!!
last week i tore my pectoral musle (left side right where it connects to the shoulder) and now i have a bruise the size of three finger widths around my nipple area. I guess the blood from the tear settled in the lowest area of the peck. Here is my question...how long before i can train again? The pain is gone and mobility is full but when i try to get into a pushup position to see if it will hurt, there is a mild pain there.
Any wisdom or experience on this issue is appreciated.

why dont u just go to a doctor. Even if it feels healed and ur benching again it might just rip again. Get professional advice

Bro,

lay off till a competent doc diagnoses the severity of the injury.

I had a bi that I slightly injured, and if I had just let it heal, I would have been back to traing in no time,

But a little injury turned into a big one.

I kept on going back to the gym trying to preserve what I had fought so hard for.

the result.

2 years out of the gym, and 35 extra fatass pounds.

only now after 2 years of beginning from scratch again can I safely say that I am better shape then I was before. 4 years later

If you dont have a substantial ammount of bruising, then chances are that you do not have a complete tear. We had a competitive bodybuilder in our office last year with a complete avulsion of his pec, and he literally turned purple down to his wrist from the ammount of bleeding involved. His tear was easy to fix since it avulsed from the bone in his shoulder, we were able to retreive the bony end and pin it back in place. Now this was your worst case scenario. It sounds to me like you have an incomplete mid substance tear of your pectoral tendon. With rest it will heal and be just about as good as new. If you do not rest it, chances are that it will get weaker and possibly result in a complete tear, and a complete tear in the middle of the tendon is not something you want to fool around with my friend. You would never be the same. Well, thats what it sounds like to me from what you described. Obviously, I was unable to examine you, so I would strongly suggest that you go see an Orthopedic surgeon and get his advice. Hope you heal up fast!

If possible consult a sports doctor. A regular doctor will basically tell you to take 2-3 weeks off and if the pain gets worse to come back. A sports doc will understand that you want minimal off time training. If you’re going to university you might want to make an appointment with one of the resident sports trainers, in most cases these appointments are free to full time students.
