AWw, I know...it is soo sad to see parents act this way. They don't even give the kid a chance to have a healthy childhood.
I don't really care how people eat when they are adults. But, it's soooo wrong for parents to assume that their children wouldn't mind growing up to live by their parents' same pathetic circumstances (having heart problems, being obese, being a hick, or all of the above, among so many others.) Treating their children with absolutely NO respect to their growing bodies is really messed up, and it makes it a lot harder on the person to have a healthy body as an adult.
The kids who don't know any better are the ones who will have to live with the biggest consequences of their eating habits. It sucks so much that parents don't care.
I want to set up some kind of organization to educate parents about their children's nutritional needs....Like, as soon as a woman delivers she should be scheduled a diet analysis or something... like an interview where the woman explains her diet habits (and if she's overweight, the interviewee should analyze her words closely to see if shes lying!) and if she "fails", she should be forced to take classes or something about nutrition. This would help decrease childhood obesity by like, .. SOOOO much, because really, I bet at least 50% of the reason people are overweight is because of they way they have been brought up (ages 0-12)
I hate that most irresponsible people have kids. Their are things we can do about it though. A lot of us used to be fat so we know what its like--we should sympathize with other people to find a way to push for healthier habits in kids. For us, it would be a long gradual movement that would take so much patience. As far as the kids responding, their would be no doubt about it---Monkey see, monkey do.
