Ok, I'm having a difficult time making it to the gym lately. Here's what's going on. Work! We are changing our software which we have used since before I started working there (11 years!). All the software we currently use to do our jobs is going away 9/2/03 & we have just begun being trained on the new software this week. Last week we were trained on new software we won't use, but anyways....Therefore, due to training, the work that comes in every day (car lease & finance contracts to be processed) is not being done. Thus we have to work longer, no lunches, come in Saturdays, etc. I come home after working 10+ hours & I have 3 hours (or less) before I go to bed to spend time with my cats, hubby, relax, make my food for the next day, do the bills, banking, clean, etc. My diet is pretty much in order but not my gym time since this week.

If I don't force myself to go in the next 2 weeks 5-6 days a week, how big a deal is it? Will I lose some of my muscle gains or just don't worry about it? I feel so guilty but I'm exhausted cuz I haven't slept in 3 days now.....

Can you husband help out with some of the house, bills, banking stuff for the next 2 weeks? If he does, then maybe you can make it to the gym for a partial workout. If you can't fit everything in just do what you can.... it's better than nothing. Will you be able to get to the gym on Sunday?

I'd probably ditch cardio for the next 2 weeks and just fit in whatever lifting I could. It's great that you are able to stick to your diet.

Could you w/o a different time of day, even temporarily? You might even try to shorten your w/o so that at least you get some time in.

It will only be as big a deal as you make it, so I would say, dont sweat it (no pun intended).

Well, I just can't get up at 5 am & go to the gym. I'm not a morning person & I've done it & I don't work out well -- slow, tired, don't put as much into it etc. I'm best after work. Plus, my job is "face time" & I have to be there till about 6 pm. I can eat at work & we have a fridge, microwave, sink, toaster, etc so I just bring a BIG ASS bag of stuff & leave it there! LOL

I was thinking of just doing lifting for the next 2-3 weeks. Like I said, this is a big change for us (going from Windows to all Dos based manual entry). I was planning on just forgetting cardio but I can go to the gym on the weekends.

Ooooh a thought! I have a workout from M&F called the Weekend Warrior plan for people who can't lift during the week -- the whole body is done on Sat & Sun -- maybe I should do that??

I have the same problem. I have repeatedly tried to workout before work... I have about 50% of my strength in the morning. It's pretty much a waste of time when I go in the morning.

Lucid -- I know, I'm like a zombie in the morning. I just don't know how people cand get up in the am & do stuff. I'm a zombie till about 10-11 am. :D

I've always been a night person. I had to train myself to go to bed by midnight. If I'm up past that I get a second wind and I'm full of energy until at least 3.

I've gotten a little better in the morning. Up until the last couple years, if someone even looked at me before I was up for a least an hour, I got pissed off.

I can definitely understand not being able to get up in the a.m. to w/o. I did it for years then once I got out of that routine I could not get back into it. Some people can do it and some cant.

I think the idea of w/o on the w/end might be good to save your sanity for the next few weeks until you get back to a normal schedule. That way you could be well rested and not rushed.

Good luck and I am sure you will come up with a solution soon!

Don't sweat it! Life does go on regardless of whether you make it to the gym or not. Thats just the way it goes sometimes. You've got the basics down on eating clean, I would certainly keep that up no matter what , especially since you are not w/o. You will be okay and not suddenly morph into a house!

That's what needs to change. You can[i/], but you won't. When I had my own business, a f/t job, an infant, and etc, I didn't want to get up and train at 6am either, but I did. I'm NOT a morning person, and I was sluggish the first 6 mos too. Then someone suggested that I wake up early, eat, go back to bed, then get up to train. It was wonderful. I'd get up at 4, scarf a bowl of oats, and go back to bed. I'd wake up at 5:45 READY TO ROCK! Plus, it set a certain demeanor for my whole day.

I train at night now, and I love it, but morning training CAN be done if you want it bad enough. If you don't, like Valerie said, that's ok too.
