Outrage Over Texas College MLK Day Party (featuring 40's, fried chicken, etc) PICS

But see, I would have thought Jesse Owens would have always been put on a pedestal as a shining example of greatness for blacks in America as well as the added bonus of absolutely pwning everyones favorite genocidal maniac in Hitler. I suppose the conflict of demonstrating how a black person can achieve such huge success against such a backdrop doenst sit well with the administrators of public education who desire to only show how blacks have been nothing but downtrodden through history and the only hope for them is through assistance from others. How naive of me, sorry.

WERD

I would put an LOL here, but it is more sad than it is funny.

Those pussies were drinking 40s of bud ice.

At least when we threw a ghetto party we drank cisco, nighttrain or similar fine wines. (OE and st ides were drank as well)

overkill X 100......this country is way to PC these days.....we need to get back to the fundamentals that this country is based on......makeing money and everyone pulling there own weight....this is not the land of Have and Have Nots.....in reality it the Will and Will Nots....everyone has the same opportunitis and acces to the same educational system....If there is a class difference between races in the USA in 2007 it's by individual choice ...not racism or bias......succes is something you must work for.....not something that is owed to you or can be given to you...regardless of your ethnenticity..

bro.....no way......no way in hell. You apparently haven't been exposed to ultra elite private schools. You come from one of these schools even with a C average....and you're in the top talent pool they select from. It is a patent lie that everyone has the same opportunities in this country......a flat out bald faced lie. I'm sorry you think this way.....it means you've been somewhat sheltered in your life. I've seen the inner city public education and I was personally in an elite private school. There's not a semblance of equality in the education........and as I stated, the good ole boy system still lives, and if you come from certain schools, no matter what your real talent level is......you're in. That absolutely cannot be said for kids coming out of public schools.

You are equating equality of opportunity only with equality of educational opportunity. In America evryone ultimately has the same opportunity for success and or failure on their own merit, regardless of educational opportunity. Just ask all the successful business owners who never graduated college.

Bro, I still have to disagree.....I attended public schools, community college and state university....I never once attended a class that was segregated in any way....But ultimatly I ended up owning my own small business that consists of sales and brokarage (that I could have done just as well with a High School education)...for the last 4 years I have broken into six figures...by my own hard work and diligence....I work allmost exclusivly on the phone and computer.....noone has any idea of my ethnenticity......If I've learned anything from life it's that opportunity is there for everyone in America....if you are willing to work hard to get it.....but you have to quit makeing excuses and waiting for someone to hand it to you......I could weave a very sad story about my childhood and background for you that could span pages....but that's not the point here....I'll just say that in noway was I privilleged......there is nothing owed to anyone in this Country not even courtesy or pollitical correctness......everyone needs to quit makeing excuses ad start makeing progress.........

Well thanks to the media and people like Heatherae who jump at the chance to call anything and everything "racist", this bullshit will continue and only increase racial hatred in America.

(It's also funny how she stereotyped the people as 'rednecks' in her post. What a racist! Although it's acceptable to her since she isn't offending black people)

you don't think your higher education helped in your small business venture? I doubt someone with a high school education would have the insight to start such a business. Brokerage is tough.....you really have to have a special insight into that which you're trying to move. Not saying it's impossible.....but people with a high school education probably would not know the basic fundamentals of operating a business like keeping books.......someone would have to teach them.

god, all of this ultra-sensitivity shit is getting out of hand. whatever happened to a good ball-breaking here and there?

hell, my group of friends consists of all sorts of people and races, and we all break each other's balls...even using racial stereotypes, sometimes.

no one gets bent out of shape or demands some sort of retribution; everyone just does it to each other, and they have a good time doing so.

each and every person gets it just as much as the next, and there are never any hurt feelings...just a bunch of laughs from everyone involved and a tighter knit group.

Back to guy who has to go to Gay rehab. LOL. Conseling for non PC behavior is becoming big business. Pimp and Ho rehab. LOL. The funny thing is every black guy I know around here eats fried chicken and watermellon.

Honestly...I don't think secondary education was necesary in my field at all...my work experience in my field was all that was needed....along with solid math skills, the ability to use spell check and to understand some fairly basic concepts......other than haveing some really great times in college....it was a total waste of time in my career path.....I know alot of people with much more education who haven't done as well finacialy as I have......I am a firm believer that hard work & dedication are the keys to success more so than education......a lack of work ethic seems to be most underachievers downfall.....not lack of education......

oh be serious......could it be that KFC is cheap? I think you'll find alot of black guys at Mcdonalds too........it's a function of their economic status.....not their race. You'll be hard pressed to find a deep fryer in zulu country.......let alone a chicken sitting in it.

Re: Outrage Over Texas College MLK Day Party (featuring 40's, fried chicken, etc) PIC

well, I can't argue with you on that point....I don't know you. All I can say is congrats, you've made it....hope I'm where you're at in a few years. But I will still argue that not anyone can make it like that.......I'll still say you had one or more people in your life that either set you straight or gave you some insight into life and this "machine" we all live under. I just don't see how some people can make anything of themselves coming from certain backgrounds.......education in this country is not equal, but it should be. Given a solid foundation of skills.........than yes, it's up to them. But they can't use what they're not given.

I will admit that I can see your point...that it may be harder for some...due to being in a very tuff enviroment that it maybe harder to excell for them than others.....but opportunity is still there if they work hard enough to overcome.....also other people will see a strong work ethic and will be much more willing to lend a hand or direction to someone who is working there ass off regardless of color or creed...

amazing

sadly, i never heard about this guy until you posted about it

what a ballsy bastard, good for him
I thought all that was for naught
he scored the first victories against the Reich

It gets better swole
I can't find my Gayle Sayers thread
he wrote a book titled
"I am Thrid"

today's wall street journal had an article about the two coaches in the super bowl
both are not the type to yell, scream etc. to motivate their players

as the article winded down Dungy spoke of an interview in which he was questioned if this job would be number one in his life
he said no,his family and faith came first
and I immediately thought of Gayle Sayers' autobiography
"I am Third"
I read it when I was 12

"Brian's Song" so moved me I read Gayle Sayer's book
yeah I knew as a kid Sayer's was good

I remember to this day exactly where I was and what I was doing when we kids heard OJ Simpson broke 2000 yards against the Jets

my point
the black community isn't showcasing their proper stars

it's astounding to me you haven't heard of Jesse Owens
wtf?

That IS sad that you didnt learn about people like that in school.

LOL to think how Hitler's ass must have been soooooooooo burnt, not only beaten by an American on their home turf but to be beaten by SUCH a non-Aryan.

Stupidity and evil. Not pretty but so sadly prevalent in the world. Why we should TRY to be kinder to one another whenever possible.
still though a re-unified Germany dominates the winter olympics now

I tend to avoid discussions of "evil" and focus on what happened

I thought JEsse Owens was taught in middle school or high school histroy or something. I learned that a long time ago. Must have been squeezed from the curriculum and replaced with a black history lesson that DIDNT involve a black person achieving something on their own and making something for themselves without gooberment assistance.
find my Gayle Sayers thread that went nowhere

stilleto posts of flava flav
I make a thread about Gayle Sayers

you google gayle sayers and you get a lousy 4 pages of images to select from
that's bad

where's my john brockington thread?
