Ouija Boards

I remember getting seriously FREAKED as a kid with one of those.
Like, It knew stuff that no one should have known...

I use to play with them all the time, what I think is going on is that you apply a small amount of pressure on the wedgie no matter what. And so does the other person, hence the eratic motion.

Your mind then will fill in a pattern to match what ever selections you come up with because our brains just love patterns.
 
I agree, it always seems to be someone elses friend's mothers daughter that dies, then some girls get all scared and upset and won't do it incase their make up gets smudged.
To be honest, I thought this thread would be full of naff about demonic possesion and floating cups. A load of old cobblers if you ask me.

One word, DON'T.

If you don't believe in that stuff, waste of time. I happen to believe in spirits (the Xtians on the board, don't slam me, as although not christian I happen to know that belief in spirits is not contrary to christianity - so says my cousin, he is an RC priest).

The kinda spirit that comes along when you use one of these boards is usually some dead guy who thinks scaring the fuck outta a bunch of newbies is damn funny. Or you could end up attracting Satantic Goatslayer's Grandpa :). If you want to communicate with the deceased, use a reputable medium. Do your research. Seriously.
 
Ive used a ouija board many times through high school..

I dont believe that it is crap.. I think something is going on that is a little wacked out.. Who/whatever we were communicating with knew stuff about some of us that nobody else would know..

maybe its a collective unconsious or something.. I also noticed that with "slow" people or nuts people, people with a couple sandwiches short of a picnic, that whatever we were talking to wasnt as clear..

we used to make our own ouija boards with cardboard and a broken 3.5" floppy disk..

some friends of mine, twins, got so freaked out using a ouija board that they burned the board they had and would leave the house whenever anyone would talk about using one..
 
curling the zealot chiming in. DON'T use them. They are medium for evil spirits not good ones. The only good spirit is the Holy Spirit.
 
I can never keep a straight face long enough to take it seriously. You're supposed to try to concentrate real hard on focusing and all, and that's where they lose me. I just crack up laughing.
 
I KNOW for a fact that they work.

My neighbor was this old dude and he was kinda senile and he used to make these groaning and mumbling noises when he fell outside of his apartment.
Well, one day he died and he went off to where the dead people go.
I felt bad for his wife, so I brought over my "Ouija Board" and some chocolate pudding.
we pulled the thing out of the box and then we got to using it and we wrote down everything that happened - hoping that her husband would notice from wherever he was and take some time out to talk to us via that thing.
SURE ENOUGH we were blown away by what we saw on that paper.

that was what it said.
it was uncanny.
that is totally like what he sounded like when he fell down outside of the house during one of his mumbling and falling escapades.

also - that game Hungry Hungry Hippo also lets you talk to the dead.
but only dead people that are hungry. and hippos. and want marbles.

I fucking love that game (HUngry HUngry Hippos).

I always used to knock the balls off though because i hit it too hard.
 
Nah, I can't say I’m convinced at all. For starters, it was first released as a novelty game, in 1890. You can buy the thing in "Toys 'R' Us" for god sake.
If they were all that dangerous, little kids wouldn't be able to buy 'em and there'd be a disclaimer on the box saying "use at risk of death/demonic possession/eternal damnation".
Plus if a group tries using an ouija board blindfolded, and gets an impartial friend (who isn't touching the glass) to note down the letters that come up, you end up with a load of meaningless rubbish.
Thus, it is far more likely that the subconscious minds of the people touching the glass are causing the ordered letters to be pointed to, rather than some kind of magical entity with horns.
In this day and age I’d expect most of you to have more common sense than to believe in superstitious non-sense. Does anyone still believe in braking mirrors for 7 years bad luck? I would hope not. What about worrying on what side you cross a black cats path?
Belief and faith is useful in certain areas, but in a context like this, it's dumb time wasting and shouldn't be given a second thought.

On a lighter note, my daughter(10) requested one for X-mas(the grandparents loved this BTW) so Satan Clause got her one. Her and her friends play with this late into the night during sleepovers talking to the ghosts in the hood. Now they want to bring it to the cemetery on Oct. 30 at midnight. I told them they were full of shit and they said I had to take them. What a set of balls on these kids!

Do you think the results would have been different had you taken over butterscotch pudding instead of chocolate?
