one of those days

Hey Everyone-

Do you every have one of those days where you make a list of EVERYTHING that you need to do....you sit back look at it....and realize...there aren't enough hours in the day? Well, today is one of those days, and so was yesterday and basically all last week. I feel like I have so much to do that I have lost my motivation to workout, and that NEVER EVER happens to me. I am always so diligent about going to the gym five-six days a week for lifting on some and cardio on the other days. And usually summer is the time that I am most motivated, but then I look outside and think..."how can I go the gym and lift when it is so nice outside?" Or "how can I spend 'x' amount of time in the gym when I should be cleaning or looking for a job?" I don't know what the problem is, but last week I didn't workout any. NONE. (Scary thought, huh?) I made it to the gym yesterday, but today is gonna be difficult. I guess I just need some motivation, and some good time management skills. Anyone got any advice.
Thanks.

P.S. Sorry I am complaining to everyone, but I just needed to vent a little bit.

To be honest, sometimes you just flat out need a break for a day or two. That may be your body telling you that. Or it may be your mind saying, "Hey let's just take a breather & go enjoy the sunshine!". I think one of the biggest challenges is ALLOWING yourself to take a day off and feeling good about it instead of guilty. And frankly, there are days when some things just have to take precedence. When you have those things that are sort of nebulous in time commitment - like "looking for a job" or "cleaning" - set a period of time to do it, go do it & then reward yourself w/ a trip to the gym. Or go to the gym first to get energized & then go hit the annoying task. Its a toss-up between managing your time & managing your tasks. And also, allowing yourself to take the time off w/o worrying about it. Whether or not you worry, still the only thing you can do is just get back in there & pick up where you left off.

I feel your frustration!

Also, sometimes its just plain old good to vent & get it off your chest so you can get on to the next issue.

Thanks-
But what about a week off, cause last week I worked out one day, and I still feel the same this week. Like I have to force myself to go to the gym. And I have no time management skills, I desperately need some tips for time management!! AHHH!! :)

Courtney..

I know exactly how you feel. I'm feeling the same way. My diet has been horrible (Not horrible, just not good enough.) ..and my work outs so-so. I took a week off to go on vacation, but have been making all my workouts since then. My main problem right now is dieting. I've been dieting for 6 months now..and my vacation was the first break I'd taken and I'm having a difficult time getting back into the groove. I've also been sick with strep throat..soup and ice cream isn't exactly good for you. I also missed two workouts due to my illness. My water intake has also been on the low side. So many problems..I'm committed to getting back into the swing of things. I'm thinking about looking into Body for Life..I want something structured. I need structure.

Structure is good; goals are better. If you set goals with definitive timelines, you have something to work toward and you stay on track. For example, set a strength goal and then put together a workout that will help you meet that strength goal. Research and find out everything you can to figure out the best way to make that goal, come up with a plan, and put it in action.

I find if I have to do the legwork behind putting together the training plan or nutritional plan, I'm much more likely to stay the course. I ask for help when I need it or when I'm just stumped, but I like preparing my own workouts and diets, making my own mistakes, and figuring out new game plans to accomplish my goals.
