On CNN this morning

I saw on CNN this morning a story about putting warning labels on fast food and other fat laden foods warning consumers about the addictive properties of the foods. I'm really sick and tired of fat, lazy people not taking responsibility for their situation. As if it's someone else's fault for them shoving whopper's and fried chicken and cheesecake in their pieholes!! It seems a recurring theme here in America that everything is someone else's fault.

Sorry for my rant, but it really enrages me.

you've got to understand, in today's society, no one has accountability anymore, and most people, aside from Elite Fitness members (hee hee), are stupid. So, I think putting labels on bad foods is probably the equivalent to putting warning labels on cigarettes. I consider it an "evolutionary benefit". If people continue their unhealthy ways, despite all the warnings, they die and it gets 'em out of the gene pool. It's not like the warnings will deter most people anyway; look at the idiots who died of heart attacks because they OD-ed on ephedra despite the warning labels. So, don't get mad; just think about how much better than them you are and that they wont be around long anyway :)

The warnings on fat foods is a way for those selling them to avoid litigation (IMO a very good idea) and to make those consuming them personally responsible. Its similar to a chainsaw manufacturer putting a warning on his cahinsaw not to place hands near the blade--

I think is a very good idea to warn people what they are eating. Some foods are SO high in fat and sugar that the company dont even bother to show the nutrition facts. In Brazil ALL the cigaretes boxes comes with these pcitures on the back. take a look at the link please. Im going to translate.

I'm all for personal responsibility, but I dont think the average American has the necessary dietary education to be able to be held accountable - atleast not yet. The fact that the FDA has dragged its feet as quietly as it has on public info/warnings about the dangers of trans fats shows we need more work.

Totaly agree with u on this man!!But it's a good way to start to educate people about also....

i think it is a good thing because while the average american may know that fast food is bad for them, they don't have a clue to what extent it is.

I understand from a business perspective why the labels are needed. Some idiot just sued Mcdonalds for making him fat. It will not stop overweight people from eating that crap then the warning labels on cigs stop people from smoking. For god sakes, the AAA baseball park near me sells FRIED TWINKEES (spelling?). If you do not know that a fried f-ing twinkee is not good for you than you deserve to have a heart attack.

holy shit fried twinky, gotta get me one of them :D

Today I was driving from South Beach to Miami downtown and I was shocked that I saw more fast food chain stores than people on the street!!!

P.S: all the fast food store had huge lines on the drive-thru

and its always the heaviest people eating french fries and whoopers - and here I am with a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread - I just shake my head. Why - people don't care what they look like - I watch them in the park by me with their kids - all have that same look - same hair - fat around the stomach - stretch pants and tops over their fat asses!

I'm sick of all this hand holding here in the States. Why don't they slap a sticker on every car door: Warning you risk injury/death by operating this vehicle. Operate at your own risk.

I don't see drunk driving victims sueing the Beer companies or liquor companies in court ?????? Maybe i should sue them cause everytime i drink alot, i get a hangover the next day...

Its all about choices.... same goes with food... you decide what you want to eat and if you get fat, its your problem not everyone's !!

I think the FDA and our government have brought this on the fat-asses, and themselves.

I was educated in Nursing School, and all my damn life, about how important the food pyramid is...

Which leads one to believe, that a big mac has - Meat, Dairy, Veggie, and bread....

If the food pyramid was created for health reasons instead of to stimulate the income of agriculture in this country, perhaps these people wouldn't be so dumb.

Nonetheless, I hate when fat people bitch and blame OTHER people on their fatasses. But there is no denying that sooner or later, some of these fat asses WILL win a lawsuit, just like tobacco did.

Blame someone else- it's the american way

I think your on to somthing bro. Think of the size of the class action we could get going. I'm in with ya bro.

the diff with alcohol and fattening foods is we're given a ton of information about alcohol and its dangers when we're high school. how many of y'all had a class where you learned about the importance of a healthy diet? everything i've learned about healthy living/eating has been on my own because i didnt get anything in school. education is the key to like 99% of the world's problems. its too bad we dont receive it mandatorily.
