We will be putting up Ombudsmen nominations for you guys to vote on.

The Ombudsmen will represent members when they need to have a situation heard by the Administration and to act as their voice in the Moderators forum.

Although the members get to vote on the Ombudsmen, the Mods get to nominate them.


If you have any suggestions please post them.

If you have any questions please ask.

The Moderators will not be your friends. You must enter their forum and speak out against one or all of them on behalf of the membership.
The members will hate you if you turn them away because you find their complaint to be frivolous and without basis.

you would be expected to do the right thing, all the time. Friendship will not be the reward.

I will only do it if I have ban authority and if I can join the fun in the mod board...If not than I must make a dismissal thread!

Really though, is this kinda like what they have in health care? These people will here members concerns over issues that they have with the board, mods, or other members? or is this like an administrative assistant type thing? I need more info before I can vote here...I think honestly that it really depends on the person, as favoritism seems to shine in most of us which will only lead to more whining from more members? Personally I think that this position should be filled by current mentors? Why try to through someone new up there who does not know the way things work? Sorry don't mean to step on toes here, just my brain going on over drive. I will go now!

Consider it like a town selectman
I am here to represent YOU, not the mods that are trying to ban or put you on timeout.
The reason must be valid for me to stand up for you.
This board has stickies of all the rules,people must try their hardest to follow them.
Rules can be bent, but can't be broken

Maby some moderator has it out for a member and has the quick trigger ban button.
You'll need to state your feelings and concerns to the ombudsman for proper reinstatement.

Good point. It may cut down on the aggravation that the mods have to go through with people and also less alter creation from banned or timed out people who think they were banned or timed out...They will have someone else to pm!

they can't babysit here all day

If ef keeps creating positions -- mods, mentors, ombudsman, hall monitors, treasurer, will they have any plain old members left? lol

I don't think it has to alienate a person if done with a certain amount of fairness to all sides. if people respect you as someone who is level headed and unbiased - not towing the party line on either side - you can handle both frivilous and valid complaints with enough grace to prevent it from being like that.

I think it would be important to pick someone who already has that respect, both from mods and members, someone who understands that creating conflict and drama does not lead to solutions. Being a voice for a member who has a complaint desn't mean you have to go about it in a combative way.

Cause those women are selfish crazy bitches. Secondly, they see now that the way to murder a child and get away with it is to say you forgot the kid in the car seat. Now, I'm REALLY forgetful and skatter-brained. I misplace EVERYTHING, but I guarantee I would NEVER forget that I had the baby in the car. They need to crack down on one of those bitches, post haste.

I think that there are a few main key points here to take into consideration such as
It will lighten the admin pm's from members who have issues
It will lighten the mods pm's from members
It will assist in time out disbutes or any other disbute that a member may have where they then cannot turn and state that a mod failed to help.

I actually think it is a good idea, I don't think it has to do with the fact that it is a dire need. I think it is more of just an option that may help in the long run
 
well its a good idea because all of people think they are treated unfair by the mods ..

Better to have and not need then to need and not have.

I know Some people are looking at it in the wrong way. Its something fun, something you guys can vote on every so often. The Ombudsmen will get switched out and a lot of members get to be a part of the system and get as feel for dealing with people and the day to day operations of the site. Its a way for us to get all of you more involved and informed with how and why things are don.

I have heard some people say lighten up. Yes lets all lighten up and have some fun with this. Lets all look at the good things that can come out of this.

It is a good thing because some things are taken out of context and really, its like representation.... They will state the people who fucked up side (which I just did by saying f#$@ed up).

my analytical skills, uncompromising belief in and sense of right and wrong, and the hours upon hours that i spend alone working on tasks, many of which are truly thankless (except to my wallet of course :)), gives me a unique set of skills that i believe would make me a perfect candidate. . .plus, at 44, i'm still rockin' a righteous six pack :)
