Okie Crew Meet Pics

Thanks Bench! We have a plant down there somewhere If I get over that way I'll MAKE SURE to look you up!

It Germany's....my ancestors

You are welcome anytime.

And I thought that was the flag. My ancestor's too. We are the barbarian tribesmen that took down the greatest empire in the ancient world. (one of my degrees is in history, finally found a use for it!)

Hey benchmonster! I had some problems and just got my user setup for this site! I was at that meet. I got beat by some Brian Mincher clown!<---(Just kidding on the clown part). By the time I realised who you guys were, I had to leave. (My wife was getting sick from the heat). We were in the group that had the two canopies side by side across from the bleachers by the warm-up/announcers pavillion. I wished I had a chance to introduce myself there. I hope Im not to forward but i would like the chance to hook up with you guys and train sometime. No one else trains WestSide(that I know of) in OKC. I could use some help with my bench! Who was the big bald-guy in the westside T-shirt(Screwball or BigOkie?). Anyway, congrats on your awesome lifting, Im betting you give Jason J and Kim a run for their money next year. My name is Lee by the way. Drop me a line if you dont mind!

What's up? That was a great meet, except for the fucking heat!! I thought I was gonna die a few times. I'm the bald one that spotted for Bench and Screwball. Where were you guys situated from the lifting platform?

If you don't know, I'm in Stillwater and Bench is in Tulsa and Screwball just moved to Arkansas. Do you train Westside? What were your attempts at the meet? Looking forward to hear from you.

Good to meet you Lee. I would be more than happy to have you over to the Dungeon. We might make the trip to OKC sometime, just a jog down the turnpike. Or what might make the most sense is to train at bigokie's in Stillwater, halfway point for me and you, and Screwball can just drive his scrawny ass on over.

great to hear about another westside trainer. I am sorry, I cannot place you, though. What bodyweight, attempts, flight, etc. . . were you? I might have a better idea of who you were with that info.

We are always happy to find new okies. And always happy to find powerlifters. Really great to hear about one who is both.

And thanks for the encouragement regarding Jason and Kim. I am hoping to be at their level next year. If I keep progressing at the same rate, I should be right there before too long. It is funny but you are the first person besides myself, who has ever thought out loud that I could ever be in the same league with Kim and Jason.

They are both in their mid to late 30's and I am 27, so I have some time to catch them, but I really want to post a 600 plus before I turn 29. Then I will have some time to work on the 20 or 30 lbs I will need at that point to catch them.

Drop me a line sometime at [email protected] and we can exchange numbers and try to get together sometime. My son got sick from the heat. I can relate to the distress your wife was in. Sorry I came off like a weiney at the meet, but the heat kicked my ass. Sweaty denim shirts are not the best thing to bench in.

Hey Big and Bench-thanks for replying. I had a blast at the meet(other than the heat). Im 27yrs old(how is it your the same age and so far ahead?), and I lift in the 220lb class(I should lift at 198 but Im a big fan of Budwieser!). I opened at 350 and it felt really awkward-I dont know if we didnt get my shirt on good enough due to the heat and stickiness. I got redlighted for supposedly raising my ass a little with 380(If not, I know my lockout was uneven so Im not arguing), then i re-took it on my 3rd and nailed it clean. I was hoping to take 400 on my 3rd, but just felt off that day. I lifted 2 or 3 weeks ago in dallas and took 410 for a ride a little over the halfway point, so i thought 400 would have been good Saturday-Oh Well. As you can see I need serioushelp on my bench! Do any of you do 3 lift meets? Im training next of the INSAA Worlds in Dallas in October. Hope to do 1525ish in the 3 lift. Did any of you hear of the meet*(Maddog Classic I think) in september? I think its put on by Ron Hood.
Big-We had our area set up to the left when looking off the stage-over by the announcers pavillion. I cant believe ya'll didnt notice me with the big numbers I was putting up-heh heh. I was the bald guy with the goatee!-(yeah, that narrows it down!). Hey-I saw my arm in one of the bikini contest pics! Damn- i was almost famous!
I have bands and boards and we can meet up at the Weight Room if you decide to make your way down here one weekend. Again, its was good hearing from you guys and congrats on this past weekend.
One more thing- did any of you do the competition back in march at Mcalesater? I was at that one to!--Later

220 lb guy with a goatee at a powerlifting meet. Oh, that guy!

Ha ha, nothing wrong with those numbers. I did my first meet exactly one year ago on the beach at Eufala and benched 355. I was supposed to go 480, 505, 530 this weekend, but it just wasn't happening.

I don't do 3 lift meets. Cannot pick up my shoes from the floor. Decent bencher, average squatter, and cannot deadlift at all. So no 3 lifts for me. Both of the monsters with me are more suited for 3 lift meets than bench meets.

I will be at Ron Hood's meet in September. It is in Muskogee, right? If you find out when and where for sure, let me know. I need some redemption. I am planning on going 500, 525, 550 by September.

Let us know when you want to get together, and we will try and get in some training.

I bombed in McAlester with a 450 opener that was oh for 3. They changed the shirt rules at the last minute on me, and I scrambled around and ended up with a last minute ill fitting shirt. I was very tough to be around for a while after that meet. Then in Tulsa 8 weeks later I went 450, 475, 505 for a new state APF record that went up strong, but was called on butt raise. Next APF meet I do, I will open at 505, and get the record first rattle out of the box.

Conditions were the worst I have ever seen or heard of this weekend. Under the conditions, you did very well indeed. And a 1500 plus total at 220 (or 198) is very impressive.

Great pics...looks like that was a lot of fun. Great to see other Okies on the board. I don't make it over to the powerlifting board often.
