Okay to consume raw eggs

Anybody eat raw eggs was thinking of adding them in my shake in the morning?

Seems to be a big stigma with eggs and raw but I have a feeling theres not much of a risk here...

I have read that unless cooked, the protein in eggs is not very bio-available. You will get very little protein from raw eggs

a scoop of protein is usually 30g whats the harm in adding 2 eggs to that...

I usually had peanut butter with my protein shake so ied prob substitute this..

Why not add more protein? I can't see a problem adding raw eggs I tried them and wasn't nice.. no flavour but its a nasty consistency..

I dont like using loads of protein powder ied try eventually get away from it except for post workout shake... Dont like depending on it 2 or 3 times a day...

I never considered what the consistency would be like..

I add powdered oats to my morning shake so the consistency does be very thick

Really was just wondering what the 'food poisoning' risk was

I just drink the All Whites with just a little and I mean a little milk. Half a carton AM and the other half PM. The milk is just for taste. They whites are bitter by themselves. I usually only have one protein shake a day and the rest from food.
 
Thanks lads thats what I wanted to hear no salmonella risk so...

Ill give it a shot tomorrow morning gonna start with two full eggs (fuck cholesterol myth)

break the yoke mate, then it doesnt feel like a giant booger. that was my only problem doing that when i was younger. once i accidentally broke some yokes they went down like nothing and i kept on doin it

Salmonella bacteria can be found in eggs, but it is not considered as the widespread problem it once was. I think the chances of you consuming a Salmonella infected egg are about 1/40 000. Whether it's a too big risk to take, is for you to decide. Safest bet is to eat eggs that are organic/free range, as most Salmonella incidents happened in battery hens eggs.

As for the guy who said that raw eggs don't contain as much protein as cooked. Well, he's sort of correct...

As the counter arguments and objectors claim, cooked and raw eggs contain the same amount of protein. However, it's how the egg is absorbed that is important here. Scientific evidence through experimental studies found that the cooked eggs' protein were better digested than raw eggs:

"Egg white protein is generally considered to be less digestible than heat-pretreated egg white protein. However, no data are available concerning the magnitude of this impairment in vivo. In this study, it was shown that after ingestion of 25 g of raw egg protein, almost 50% is malabsorbed over 24 h. The higher digestibility of cooked egg protein presumably results from structural changes in the protein molecule induced by heating, thereby enabling the digestive enzymes to gain broader access to the peptide bonds. It has been suggested that the reduced digestibility of raw egg white is at least partially related to the presence of trypsin inhibitors in raw egg white." (Matthews 1990).

I think the study claims that only 10-15% of cooked eggs was malabsorbed versus the 50% in raw eggs.

Don't take out the peanut butter. Your body needs it, it's a healthy fat. Just make sure it's the kind you have to stir.
It's ok to drink raw eggs.
Their are now flavored raw egg whites.

I just bought some and will be drinking them two times per day.
Eggs and fish are the cleanest beat protein.
 
there is nothing special in raw eggs , well there are many peoples eating raw eggs but by boiling you can increase protein as well as there is bacteria in egg which dosnt harm after cooking

So if I'm reading into this right, would there essentially be less protein by me buying a carton of liquid egg whites and drinking them than if I were to simply cook egg whites?
 
That is incorrect, same protein per ml
 
It's about how bio active the protein is, not the amount. The chemical change when eggs cook give them more active usable protein
 
There are many brands of egg whites and some have higher protein numbers. I buy muscle egg now so it doesn't matter to me.
My memory sucks so I could simply be wrong as well but I think your problem is you are comparing egg whites from an egg and I am comparing egg whites from a carton. Lol.
 
An egg is 100 HBV ( High biological value)

is this cooked or raw?

when bulking i will drink atleast 6 whole eggs a day , but Bioavailability of raw eggs is said to be lower than cooked...its all about protein assimilation..

you need to look at the amount of protein you're taking in man, if you have too much then it's just useless, you really want to be able to use up everything you eat and have nothing useless in your body, eggs are pretty protein packed and so are shakes so weight up what you want.
