Ok Car Nerdvigs... What do you guys think of BMWs?

meh...straight line acceleration and a lopey idle through flowmasters make my boat float...corners are for pussies...i want you to be able to see my taillights.

That's retarded.

I love drag racing more than autocross, but saying corners are for pussies is like saying butts are better than boobs. It's just preference.

Oh, and ye old muscle car can't even go 140 without falling apart and losing control. The M5 will do 200 solid on the top end thus showing you it's taillights in the end.

Why do you assume I don't like muscle cars?

I like the fact that BMW offers a turbo-Diesel for the US market, unlike Lexus or Infiniti. So does MBZ offer a turbo-D here, but the BMW X5, IMHO, is a bigger, nicer vehicle than the MBZ SUVs. The only thing I don't come to terms with on a BMW, is the "yuppie-fication factor". There's a certain status thing which some people seem to have, and I can't help seeing it in a BMW owner. I don't see it with MBZ, but for some reason it's common among BMW and Acura people. NOT ALL!!!! Just seems prevalent.

As far as reliability, I think the European luxury cars are all about the same, which is less than the Japanese ones, but far better than the American names :-( . Craftsmanship is best on the Lexus, hands down. Used to be true for BMW, but if you run your finger along the hood-to-fender space, you will feel it gets wider and narrower on the BMW, and not on the Lexus. Also little things like interior trim lining up from the dash to the door panel: Perfect on Lexus; decent but not perfect on BMW. Abysmal on American cars :-( .
