Off the rack or custom-made? What do you think?

I need a posing suit for my comp. First comp., novice, small, local. Is there any difference between getting one off the rack or having one made?

PLEASE note: either way, I will not be able to have it fitted - I live in Japan, and will be ordering from America.

bodybuilding.com sells suits for relatively decent prices - anyone bought from there?

What do you ladies think? A posing suit is a posing suit is a posing suit?

Does everyone have theirs made? Has anyone used one off the rack?

I just purchased mine from bodybuilding.com . Was mailed the next day, and should be here in about 3 days. I read where quite a few girls reccomended it ....so we shall see :) Make sure you also order some of that bikini fastner stuff.... unless flashing is your style :D Could be a sure bet to a win though :fro:

You can also use 3M spray-mount as an inexpensive substitue for bikini glue, no-slip, or resin. Spray-mount is the removeable spray rubber cement like stuff used to mount paper to poster board. (As in Science Fair project poster boards.) Almost every office supply store or large discount store sells it in UK and US.

Just spray it where you need it and let it dry for a few seconds, things should stay put nicely!

(Does it sound like I have had a little experience with childrens science fair projects, padgeant modeling, and comps? Hmmmm? :D )

Thanks everyone - that's very helpful - will go with bodybuilding.com. I've ordered stuff from them before, and I know they deliver FAST.

Ann, I'd love to hear how yours is. Did you get the wide or narrow cut bottoms? I don't know how lean I'm gonna be, and I've never been that lean anyway, so I wouldn't know how either would look.

When you get it, if you can have an experienced competitor or trainer help you set it up / try it on it might help you adjust it correctly. When I had mine fitted, we tied it on really tight - no chance in hell of falling off. "CJ" made it for me - I LOVE HER! The string cross in back (make an "X" across your lower back) and then there should be little loops in the bottom piece on the sides where you can run the ties from the top. Its useful to pin a safety on each string so its easier to loop thru. Then you tie a nice knot -- just make sure its one u can get out.... esp if you have a last minute bathroom run before u go on stage! You can tuck the loose ends from the knot under the suit bottoms - just make sure they don't hang out. Doesn't look good on stage! We cut mine down far enough so I can still tie the suit top but not have ends hanging out.

SteelWeaver... I got the narrow cut bottoms w/ round front. Am still waiting...hoping it will be here by today. I ordered Monday.

I ordered two suits , and with shipping here in the US, it was right under $90. Then I bought the comp. tanning lotions,etc.... I spent a little cash this week .

How far out are you again from your show?? I'm around 13 weeks now .

How did you know what size to go for? Did you just buy something a couple of sizes smaller than you are now?
