Ok, IM not a huge fan on oatmeal, I duno if its the texture or what but it fuckin gags me But it's part of a diet I have made up therefore,..every morning I have a smoothie with my breakfasrt, just some berries and banana done up in my magic bullet, so could i just mix the packet of oatmeal in with that when I blend it up? or does it have to be cooked in order to be any good for me?

I often toss a 1/4c raw oats into my shakes.....you'd probably find it way more tolerable that way.

I personally LOVE cooked oatmeal, mostly because I like the texture of it when it's half-cooled off. Weird, I know.....

it doesn't have to be cooked

could always grind them up in a coffee grinder and add them into a protein shake :D easy cup of oats :D

Sweet ,thats soo much better. I used to love it but I dunno, the texture gags me now it's strange.
Thanks again, can't beat the magic bullet too btw.. lol :P

I include plain oatmeal in my P/W shake after every workout......it's also part of my breakfast every day, instant oatmeal (plain) with a litte cinnamon, maybe throw in 1/2 a banana...

Never tried the cinnamon! Will though. Also love the banana and some peanut butter with it........ok ok sometimes I treat myself to a TON of peanut butter

pussy...how can you not like oatmeal?? I probably get 20% of my caloric intake from oatmeal. Raisins are good, blend it in with a vanilla protien drink, lots of options.

Oh , yeah.....no I remember I used to throw some organic PB in there in place of the cinnamon...

Gotta try that again...

nibble on my ass cutthroat lol I'm just not a fan of the texture and thats that! I like my eggs in the morning having it with oatmeal ruins them, therefore I will be putting them in my shake so I still get them.

those of you who do have oatmeal, what kind do you get and how do you prepare it?

For breakfast I use plain instant oatmeal, just add boiling water...

Post workout shake; add the Quaker oates to the blender with whatever other ingredients (usually water & protein)

oatabix is 98% whole grain oat and has a different texture...
oat cheerios are 82% " " " "

I get the Quaker Quick (3- 5 minute) oats but I just pour some boiling water on top, I like it less mushy/less cooked. Lately I've been putting a bit of cinnamon on top and sometimes a few raisins.

My favorite are steelcut oats, but if I don't have time I do the Quick Oats with either fresh blueberries or Raisins and some lowfat soy milk. YUM!!!

any oats I should stay away from? besides the flavored ones that have TONS of sugar :D

I think the main thing to consider is portion size. Whether you get quick oats, old fashioned oats, or steel-cut oats, a third of a cup or a half cup serving is (for me) a proper portion size. Depending on what other carbs I am eating that day. If the oatmeal is going to be my only carb I go with half a cup. Thats about 150 cals, 5 g protein , 27 grams carbs, 3 grams fat and 4 grams of fibre. The counts are exactly the same for quick, old-fashioned and steel cut.

I was in the same boat too buddy. What I found was putting in 1/3 cup of oatmeal in my protein shakes, and then letting it sit for a while so they soften up, makes it super easy and tolerable to drink! I also highly recommend using a vanilla flavoured protein powder, since I found it tastes way better that way.

BTW, another cool things about having oats in your shake is that I was able to use water instead of milk and it actually ended up being just as thick and creamy as if I did use milk.

Good luck!

Thanks all,

I've found a good morning shake if anyone is interested...

THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!

Put a handful of frozen berries
2/3 cup of oatmeal
1 scoop of protein (only 1 scoop because I get a lot of protein from my eggs)
put in about half a cup of OJ and then some water

Leave it sit for the night, blend it up in the morning, fuckin delicious :)

I use the MAGIC BULLET for this btw, so amazing. lol

Heres how I do my morning oatmeal..good shit right here

milk
teaspoon of ground flax seed

microwave that up

then add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries

It doesnt have to be cooked! I mix about a cups worth with fat free yogurt, wheat germ, flax seed and cottage cheese. Add a couple table spoons of skim milk (to make it a bit liquid) and 1/2 a cup cereal (your choice). Add fruit if youd like (i prefer bananas, for the pottasium) and voila! Deliciousness in a cup!

Oatmeal kind of makes my stomach upset, bloated, and gassey. It can be ok when mixed and made into pancakes or cookies (made with oatmeal, eggwhites, and protein mix).

As soon as it hits my tongue... projectile vomit and everyone here insists I need to be eating it :( so I feel you

how does that make the shake taste? milk / oatlmeal / protein....i'll try that tonight.

Add 3 table spoons of oats and pour 2 cups of water, stir and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add some milk, dry fruits & nuts like raisins, dates, almonds, walnuts or anything you like. You’ll love it for sure, this has been my breakfast for more than a year and i’ve reduced considerable weight.
