NY Times: Sony in "the fight of its life"

I'm sad that Sony is on death's door (to some degree), but that's what happens when brands don't really compete and have bad years. Simpsons is gone. Sears is almost out. KMart is out (I think). Packard Bell and Compaq is out. RIM is going.

Then again, Apple was in the same boat about 10 - 15 years ago.

I still remember my Sportsman walkman (my yellow attack brick).

I was in college when "The Terminator" came out. It was unlike any other move that came before it.

It's sad to see companies I grew up with go down. But the risk of companies (and people) rising and falling are what insures long-term competitiveness and protects us long-term.

I briefly worked for Sears in college, and I can't wait until that company goes under. I've never worked for so many fucking idiots, both at the store and district level, in my life. Their demise is well-deserved.

I sold TVs there, and I can tell you that nobody buys Sony TVs. Nobody. You'd sell one here or there, but I sold Samsung far more than any other manufacturer. Samsung TVs have been consistently the best for the last 5 years. Sony came close a few years in quality, but in those cases their comparable models were always $300 more than the Samsung models.

Sony just sucks cock, period.

agreed, i got a samsung 8 series smart tele. its fucking killer... i dont ever use it really tho. if i didnt buy samsung like i have for the last few years i would go for the sharp 80 inch just cuz its fucking big. but samsung 8 series is where its at
