I am pretty excited about this not sure when the trickle down will happen in Canada but from a personal perspective this will work much better for me.

WOMENS PHYSIQUE DIVISION

It will not replacing WBB, it's a whole different division

They will not wear heels

WBB has phased itself out with numbers dwindling to the point that we can no longer justify it

This new division has NOTHING to do with any of the others in terms of any rule changes as you mentioned, there will be no changes to Figure, bikini.

The WPD will run much like a FBB competition except for a few things...the girls will do quarter turns, mandatories, routine...difference will be the poses will be restructured to be more feminine and the physiques will resemble more of the physiques of WBB in the early to mid 80's...

Initially, there will be only one class...as numbers grow, so will the class sizes/ structure

Figure girls that are too hard for figure would fit in , as would the same for Fitness...FBB would have to scale it WAY down to even have a chance of fitting into the criteria. This will not resemble FBB by any stretch as to what it is today.

This is pretty cool QT! Thanks for posting this. It will be interesting to see what happens in Canada!

I absolutely think this is a brilliant idea! Not sure why it didn't happen years ago. It is right up my alley and I'm so stoked to finally have a catergory that is perfect fitting for me and many other woman. Yeah!

Mine too ... I was considering not competing again I know I am to big for figure but not big enough to go place in bodybuilding I am hoping this is the happy medium.

I thought it was interesting what that info said about how the numbers for women's bodybuilding are getting so small. I wonder if that is because in order to be competitive you really do need to get quite big and to get that big you need to do some serious gear? At least it seems that way in Alberta and the CBBF in Canada. I worked backstage last weekend with a few women who competed this year at our nationals (non tested) and they were pretty big. I'm not saying that in a negative way...some of them looked amazing! It's just not a road I think I want to go down, even though I think it'd be amazing to do a bodybuilding show.

This is great news! And perfect timing, as I have been trying to choose between figure and BB and couldnt really make a solid decision. (which BTW is driving my trainer crazy)

I really like the overall (feminine) presentation and posing we see in figure, but I love the insane hardness and definition of the WBB physiques.

Sounds like we get the best of both worlds in this division:biggrin:

I agree and that is my point. I am postive there is not a lot of woman that want to go down that road. I am not saying all but a lot of woman that at PRO level FBB take more then enough gear that there pretty much pre op transexuals if thats what you want cool but not what I want.

I am in agreement with all of you...QT, Roxy, Abbey. I did bodybuilding and I am good at the local level, but when I get to the national level, just face it, I am too small to be competitive with the other girls. I tried 2 years in a row and the judges basically told me how they felt by my placing. They kept saying for so long we want a feminine package....and I guess to each it's own, but what I call feminine sometimes, IMO was not always rewarded. I knew what I had to do in order to be competitive and my husband and I talked about this in length and I just was not ready. So, this year I thought I would give figure another shot. Tried to hide my muscles on stage, but you really can't hide it. I was fooling myself.

I really feel this category is going to be very successful. Looking forward in hearing more info.
