not enough food?

so im 6'2 220 about 17%bf - i just started counting my calories and i never realized that i wasnt eating nearly enough!! ive done some research and it seems like i should be consuming about 2300-2400 calories a day to lose weight - i would guess before i started counting i was eating about 1700 - would this cause me to hold onto fat?? i really didnt understand how much 2400 calories of clean food really is! i feel like i am eating every damn second, i cant even imagine eating for size!! anyway my diet ratio is about 46% protien 266gr - 35% carbs 205g - 19% fat 49gr. how does this look to you guys?

thanks

So you have figured out your BMR and TDEE? If so could you post those numbers?

Yes eating too few calories can cause your body to hold onto and even gain fat. When you are on a severe caloric deficit your body goes into "Starvation" mode. This causes your metabolism to shut down and your body to eat up muscle.

I would not restrict calories to much if you are trying to lose fat. Some might disagree but 250-500 calories a day below maintenance should allow you to drop fat. But.....You need to continue weight training and cardio.
