Not being able to tan while on accutane
I did accutane many years ago also. I had moderately bad acne at the time. My dermatologist is a head case and when I go in to see him he's standing there with pen and prescription pad in hand. He loves fixing problems with medication (wish my GP was like this). I first started on minocin and although the results were positive they weren't what I wanted which was complete elimination of the acne. Besides, after you stop minocin, there's a good chance things will go back to normal and I didn't want to be on this med for years.
So I got onto accutane (coincidentally, I also started in the early summer months). Two pills a day, every day for four months. Had to go in for blood work each month. The results were simply amazing. Nothing happened for the first three weeks and I questioned why I was taking the stuff. But during week four a miracle happened. All acne was gone. I finished out the four months and have never had bad acne since. This was about 9 years ago. Also, maybe I was a lucky one, I experienced no troubles in the sun but I did try to avoid it on the advice of my derm. So it was a positive experience overall.
Now, if I had not done accutane back then and developed severe acne at this point in my life, would I do it again? Defiantly NOT. You should read some of the side effects from this thing. It make anadrol look like a tic tac. Gets this, one of the potential side effects listed is SUICIDE!! How fucked up is that? But it's happened more than once. Others include being sad, angry, loss of pleasure, bad concentration, etc, not to mention some of the strange elevations found in blood work while "on".
The best solution for acne is this. I have a friend that did his first cycle a couple of years back (dbol and winny). He's always been prone to acne but this cycle caused him to explode. He had the option to use accutane but first I told him to try a topical retin-a cream and see if it does anything. He used it every other night after washing his face. Well guess what? Acne was almost eliminated within 6 weeks! Dammit, I should have used that stuff instead. He stopped after 8 weeks and didn't have any more problems for the cycle. He now used it for the first four weeks of every cycle and is clear year round.
So finally, the moral of my long story is, don't use accutane, use a retin-a cream (which is basically topical accutane but has never show any of the terrible sides). You can likely order it at your favourite overseas pharm. If you don't know any, then go to http://www.valuepharmaceuticals.com/. They're reputable and you can grab 3 tubes for $70 US.
I know this has nothing to do with tanning but I hope it helps.
