If NK continues to act up and we are forced to fight them and Iraq at the same time we will have to Nuke one of them.
were they acting up before or after they got named as one of the 'axis of evil' members......

well if there is war, S. Korea won't have much time to think about it. Correct me if im wrong but the capitol of SK is well within NK artilery and missle range. Plus we have a shitload of troops over there and there would be HELL to pay if NK made a preemptive strike against SK and US forces.
yes....but have we stirred the pot? before they were named an 'axis' member, they were gonna send diplomats over to saouth korea and things between the nationed had calmed down. i didnt hear much after that, only that the sent a bunch of US ambassadors back over. were they named an axis memebr because they were doing this stuff covertly or did they only start after....its something i wondered

We are creating a threat to our military power so we can spend trillions of dollars on star war missile shields and stuff.

N. Korea is not a stable nation. They deal weapons of mass destruction to whoever wants to buy them so they can fund further development. some of these nations are not friendly with china anyway. Look at china's location. Chances are unless these weapons and chemicals and nukes are shipped by boats, they are gonna have to be smuggled through China. Does china want things like that moving through their country without their Knowledge? I doubt it. They dont allow citizens to own handguns, i doubt they would like people smuggling nukes through tthere country. N. Korea also has a piss poor economy. A war in N. Korea would barely (if at all) effect the chinese economy.
And if we promised to come in, do our business, and then leave without leaving an occupying force, i dont think it would be much of an issue.
Besides, the U.S. basically keeps china moving forward economically witht the amount of trade we do. What does N. Korea do for them, besides be fellow communists and occupy the same continent.

The idea was not that bad and it would have probably solved many problems later. But Trumman got scared at the idea of seeing Russia taking the opportunity to blow West Germany and maybe Japan.
As for the camera, I would understand if this was in Iraq since they technically a "defeated country", but NK is a sovereign country. Why don't the US place some cameras in Pakistanis or Indian facilities ?

How can an organization with such conflicting interests in everything, and a political agenda that is different on every issue (because of who is being affected) be expected to even work, let alone do what's right?

I've lived in South Korea for more than a few years...South Koreans, despite owing their freedom to the USA (North korea has a much bigger army and lots more equipment), whose soldiers died for them in the Korean War and liberated them from the Japs in WW2, are thankless...they wont admit to owing the usa one damn bit of thanks. instead...because of an ACCIDENT where a US armoured vehicle ran over two teenage girls (what are amoured vehicles and pedestrians doing using the same road anyway? whose fault is that?), are crying foul and in some cases attacking anyone who is white as long as there are 10 of them and one white guy. These are people who think it is ok to slaughter dogs for food in the following manner: they take a stick and beat the dog to death, as they think it makes the meat more tender. I am not kidding. And I have fournd that they find that acceptable. Cruel bastards, I have no respect for them or their backward, racist culture. Wanna beat up your girlfriend in public- mgo to korea. No one there will care. Seen it happen. I intervened, and nobody else would. Just walked on by. Why does America and Canada let them immigrate? They wont allow a foreigner to become korean. South Korea has accepted ONE refugee- despite the thousands that arrive there.

Koreans seem to have very little regard for human life. Hospitals there will not treat you unless you can prove you can pay for the services. Also, I don't understand why they are bitching so much about the two girls when the same thing happens many times a day there. Cars have priority over pedestrians in the streets, and Korea has some of the most reckless drivers.
This also gives me a chance to bitch about my Korean roommate, who is the most worthless waste of oxygen I've ever met in my life. He moved to the US about ten years ago (he is eighteen) and still has the English skills of a fifth-grader, on his account of only having Korean friends, speaking as little English possible, and generally being a racist fuck. In my experience, this is quite typical; many Koreans are very close-minded people.

The same article said that NK would lay "merciless punishment" upon us. That type of shit pisses me off. However, it makes me wonder. What do they have the capability of doing to us? As Americans we just think "oh, if they have three nukes, we have 3 dozen. If they can launch there's 3,000 miles, we can launch ours around the globe." Well, how much of that is true? With GW at the helm it seems we may be in for many more wars over the next few years. Do we really have the means to win them all? I think so, but I'm not too educated on our military.

The North Korean response should be expected. North Korea is a sovereign nation and should not have to answer to pompous statments and ridicule of intruding countries. The North Korean response was warrented, considering the seriousness of our threats against them.

3. Korea sells nukes to islamic extremists, and they detonate one somewhere, leading to a big war.
I really dont see a need to go on, because any of the above mentioned events would probably bring around another dark ages.

Well I'm no pacifist.......I believe that in todays world violence must play a part. However, I object to all of the posts saying we should just go to war.......especially the ones concerning using nukes. Nukes are a last resort......you let one off and people are likely to get trigger happy. North Korea does not have the infrastructure to sustain a campaign against anyone. Nor do they have the force projection to attack anywhere off of the Peninsula. (Well, maybe Japan, China, etc., but maybe not even them.)
Their recent warnings, while frightening, do not constitute a legitimate threat to mainland America, even if they have an atomic weapon or two. I am personally more concerned about an al-Qaeda attack once we being our Iraq invasion. That's another topic. North Korea will be dealt with and probably dimsantled during the Bush Presidency.
Allowing sovereign nations to "go abut their business" is the surest way to hasten the demise of the USA. As much as others dislike it, we need to protect our interests and standard of living, unless you are prepared to give all that up. I am not.
The Vietnam war was a complete success, if you understand that our true objective was to punish the South for rejecting becoming a client state. We destroyed them and they never recovered.
