noob lifter

your pics are good for a non lifter. you have some potential. your name on the other hand for a 14 year old to include marijuana and steroids all in your user name is kind of repulsive.

thanks. ya, i quit weed awhile ago and don't plan on roids anytime soon. just couldnt think of any other name :P. how should i start on lifting and dieting? i don't want to be a bodybuilder i just want to be in great shape. mainly upper body because i'm just going to run a mile everyday for lower.

id check out the lifting page as far as that goes. your young and tall you could put on 50-60lbs between now and your graduation and be a beast with the ok diet and solid lifting. id look into playing sports in highschool just to take advantage of the gym time and it will help motivate you and give you something to do thats positive. but great base for 14

Eat boy eat!

Then start getting right into your compound lifts (Squats, deadlifts & bench)

Then eat again! High protein

thanks bro, but do you mean 50-60 by the end of THIS school year? haha if so, i don't know if i'm capable of that because i eat a TON, more than anybody i know and it hardly makes a difference. if the quality of diet matters, that's definantly my problem. i pork out on a variety of junk everyday. what kind of foods should i look into? obviously, the high protein, high carbs stuff but the thing is i'm having trouble finding affordable food. what are healthy foods that would be affordable?

Eggs, chicken breast, turkey, tuna & lean beef. Vegies and protein drinks for a start. You need to eat over 300g of protein a day with some calories in there too

okay thanks for the advice. if i got my 300g a day, alot of vitamins and vegies, and did some decent lifting and stretches everyday, how much weight could i expect in 6 months? and i'm talking if i remain consistent with my workout and dieting and start doing shakes and creatine. the shape i'm in is working great right now with sports but when i get to high school next year i'm going to have to bust it for varsity. i just want to get in top knotch shape and push my abilities to the limit. again, thanks.

Well the amount of weight your going to put on is upto you really. You need to stick to high protein meals and start piling the weight on the bar. With your compound lifts i would expect a minimum of 4 sets with at least 10 - 12 reps. Throw in drop set on the bench to make your pecs grow. Get into 21's and incline biceps curls to get your arms going and really give it to your triceps because they will make your arms look huge.

Get your technique perfect for squats and deadlifts before you start piling the weight on and use the same rep range as above. Make sure you check out Arnold's body-building encyclopedia and the weightlifting thread here on Elite fitness.

Train hard dude

Eat lots of protein! If you have never really lifted before find someone that knows what they are doing and workout with them for awhile. And remember too you are young, just give it time.
