ok, we are gonna switch to defense next and save the running backs and o-lines for a few days... but for now... WR's...

isaac bruce- he could make tony banks look good, that should say enough right there... he is the modern wr... tall enough to out leap db's, fast enough to run by em, good hands... any negatives on him?

jerry rice- best days behind him of course but i'd bet he shows up for a few games and has the bay area high in hopes at times..

herman moore- he is a local.. a detroit lion.. i feel bad for this guy... even when he is healthy he is used poorly. ever since charlie batch took over herman has been watching crowell and batch play catch (that rhymed)... he should have not taken the pay cut and been released... he would have looked mighty fine in midnight green.

terry glenn- i said it before, i love drew bledsoe as a qb... but glenn is just as good, they work well together... he is fast and isnt a "girl" like billy parcells said when he first got to NE. he does have to get over some legal stuff or he wont even play.. NE has some sort of no nonsense policy... no nonsense??? in the nfl? god, where would ray lewis be if he were a patriot?

todd pinkston- yes, the eagle.. the 2nd round pick last year who was outweighed by half of the elementary school kids i taught... he has supposedly put on weight and is getting off the line of scrimmage.. they say he is going over the middle and his confidence is shooting up.. BIG SEASON FOR PINKY!!! (i hope).

i left out some huge names on purpose... your turns...

oh, one more thing.. how bout WR corps? teams with great ones....

lions have a 3 headed attack that is second to none, but they have no qb.... moore, crowell, and morton are all super wr's.

redskins- westbrook is the big name and he is coming back from another injury... jeff george is gonna feel like he is in indy back in 90' again... trouble.

colts- i left harrison out of the mix earlier and will do so here too.. but they have an awesome and severely underrated 2 and 3 guy... pathon and wilkens are very good... they have e g green too but i am not a fan.

most underrated receiver a few years ago was Jake Reed when he was with the Vikings. And Carl PIckens was nice too a few years back.

If both can get back to where they was, they'll be really nice for any qb

i miss dem days of alvin harper, john taylor, and shit...oh and fred barnett (just for you madbomber, cuz you bleed philly green)

pickens will not get back, he is done for good ... retired...

jake reed had recognition in minny as the deep guy, he was awesome, then they got that randy guy and jake disappeared...

damn madbomber..no love for Fred Barnett???? damn i thought fo sure you'd give me props for rememberin him :) back with Randall and Charlie Garner

receiver corps....The Bears acctually do not have a bad group of guys

Marcus Robinson (injured for now)
Eddie Kennison
David Terrel
Bobby Engram

Marty Booker is having an awesome camp right now. He's grabbing everything thrown his way. Robinson is one of the top recievers in the league when he is healthy. He had better stats than Randy Moss in 1999 and was injured last year. Terrell will be Offensive Rookie of the Year. He's the prototype NFL reciever. Big, fast, ups, and strong. Dez White would be a serious threat if he had hands. I'm pretty sure Kennison is gone.

Robinson, Engram, and Terrell have the potential to be the most devasting WR trio in the league. Granted they stay healthy and someone (Miller I hope) can get them the ball. They are running a revamped West Coast Offense and should shake things up this year.

I think Keyshawn Johnson will have a good year. Now that he has someone who can get the ball to him.

You can't over look the monster trio in St. Louis. 3 big time players making the grabs over there.

Crowell from Detroit is looking good too.

Same old studs---M Harrison, I Bruce, T Brown
New Studs--Rod Smith, Joe Horn, Tory Holt, T owens

Could be studs--J Crowell, J Thrash, T taylor
(They all have new QB's anything can happen.)

No particular order:

Keyshawn Johnson
Randy Moss
Tory Holt
Terel Owens
Marvin Harrison
Korem Robinson
ED MCCAFFERY
Tim Brown
Jimmy Smith

it's about time someone gave some credit to my lions. I'll admit moore has lost a step or two but hes still as reliable as anyone in goal line situations. Crowell has a great build for a receiver and he could turn into a pro bowler with the right system. Morton is year in and year out the most underrated wide receiver for reliability, he makes catch after catch but gets no credit. now that we've installed the WCO this should be an interesting year. I know batch isnt the best of qb's, but if you look at the games last year when he was healthy he played pretty good. Our biggest problem was our O-line. those guys gave up more sacks than a grocery store. now that we got the best center in the draft (dominic raiola* from nebraska) and the man jeff backus from u of M they should be great a couple years from now.(wish we could have gotten hutchinson though, fuckin seahawks) this year will be a rebuilding year but all the pieces are in place, now we just have to find out if htey can blend together.
Madbomber, im impressed by your knowledge on the nfl. usually all i hear is the same ol' shit from people that tink they know about the nfl. I'm sure we'll have some good arguments once the season starts :D

I need a big year from Mccafrey for this reason:

Fantasy leauge 1st place wins over 500$
10 teams
my team:

QB: Gannon
RB: E James, S. Davis
WR: I Bruce, Ed Mccafrey
TE: sucks don't ask
K: Gramatica
D: Ravens

Those are my starters, people are doubting mccafrey, but if he comes through, I see no reason I why won't dominate the leauge, assuming Gannon has the year he had last year.

Hey MB -- I bleed blue and of course I am huge patriot fan. What do feel about Small and Johson coming over to the pats. Some experts are saying that the pats could have a go to the s-bowl if and the big if - their schedule (easy) plays into their destiny - which is of course to win the whole fuckin thing --- hellz fuckin yeah:fro:

Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison are the 2 best, and a shade below them would be Terrel Owens and Isaac Bruce. There are a lot of great aging recievers, such as Rice, Tim Brown and Cris Carter. As far as youngsters, Torry Holt looks good, and I'd like to see what Peter Warrick can do with a QB and a little more concentration.

natymike...how many teams in your league? are you using points for both yards and touchdowns?

rice is a has been, though he'll still catch some balls...and average like 12 yds. a catch if he's lucky.

i also think warrick could be great with the right pieces around him...

There hasn't been enough mention of Randy moss in this thread. I'm not his biggest fan, but he bar none, the best receiver in the league. He truly, if he wants to, cannot be stopped. Others are all secondary to him, but still great.

Best recievers in order:

Randy Moss - best athelete in the NFL

Chris Carter - best hands Ive ever seen.

Eric Moulds - big, fast, great hands

Terrel Owens - big, strong, great hands

Issac Bruce and Tory Holt - track stars with above average hands.

Recievers I dont like:

Marvin Harrison - Manning makes him

Terry Glenn

i didnt mention moss for one reason... nothing to say about him... the guy deserves a church dedicated to him... he is the WR god... without him randall, brad, jeff g, and dante would not have been half as good... and all ended up probowl caliber...

patriots have no chance at a superbowl... i love the pats and drew... but, until they get a real running back they are gonna watch drew throw throw throw... and, get KILLED... defenses are just gonna keep popping him. last i heard robert edwards failed the test to practice but that was last week... if he gets back to where he was the pats could have a decent year...

hey, THEY SIGNED BRIAN COX!!! thats awesome, cant wait for him to go to buffalo and make "friends".

DID SOMEONE SAY TOM WADDLE??? flat out funny.. he rocked!!! he was like hitting bag, they just teed off on him every game.

how can rod smith be a new stud???

natymike.. trade steven davis as soon as possible :)

kak, its been a while but charlie garner never played with freddy b... i believe barnett was already in miami when garner was drafted....

but... calvin williams, fred barnett, randall, keith jackson, hmmm, too bad they never had a real running back then... that was their missing piece to the puzzle.

As for guys who never quite became what I thought they'd be...Joey Gallowey, he just couldn't stay healthy, freaky athletic ability though. Antonio Freeman, a coupl eof years ago I thought he was one of the best all around recievers in the league, but he has yet to take it to the next level, and appears to have lost a step...

BTW, I haven't seen Jimmy Smith mentioned yet. He doesn't get much recognition and isn't that flashy, but his numbers are damned impressive...

LOL at that Philly team MB just mentioned. Didn't they have Heath Sherman running the ball? That team had one of the best defenses I've ever seen. With a healthy Randall Cunningham and Herschel Walker, they could have seriously challenged for the Super Bowl...

Ahhh Fellow Fantasy Football Freaks!

NatyMike, your team looks solid? You only have to start 2 WR's?

Top 5 WR (in order)
1- Moss - he is by far the best.
2-Terell Owens - size, speed, agility, hands.. dominating.
3-Marvin Harrison- good hands and speed.. could be more physical.. and future hall of famer QB
4- Tory Holt -will come into his own this year.
5- Issac Bruce/Eric Moulds... Bruce has better QB but Moulds is more physically gifted.

Sleepers
-Curtis Conway- has a new QB and RB.. good be steal in later round
-Santana Moss - Moss prototype with stong armed Vinny throwing the rock
-Pete Warrick- just a matter of time until his skills start dominating
-Joe Horn- not a real sleeper but could he could be looked over for a steal in later rounds

Getting old/injury prone:
-Cris Carter- all he does.. catch TDs
-Jerry Rice- should have retired on top
-Marcus Robinson- could have been great but the injuries have been devestating
-Jimmy Smith- can he come back to top 3 status?
-Antonio Freeman - still Favre's 1st choice?

peter warrick needs someone capable of throwing the ball..

jerry rice is getting old but if the guy wants to prove soemthing he can... besides, he is good for 70 catches if not more... i'd still like him on my team, especially if i were the raiders and wanted to take that next step.. why not have a guy who has taken that step over and over again?

thick- yes, heath sherman and james joseph... now, i am an old style NFC east football fan.. i like big hard nosed rb's... hard hitting defenses... so, i had the defense but i had girls running the ball.

true that on Stephen Davis. I'm just not sold on the big backs I guess. It seems that most of them will have one or two really good seasons then they are done. Eddie George and Jerome Bettis would be exceptions. I'd prefer a guy who is about 5'10, 205-210 with great quickness and acceleration. I think the 240 lbs lack the quickness...

thick, i've said this before and i believe it (unfortunately) eddie george has 2 or 3 years left... he wont make it to 10 seasons... takes far too many hits and they ran him over 400 times last year!!!
