New to all this- Need some urgent help

I don't know much of a thing about supplements and protein powder, so I figured here was a good way to start. First of all, I'm 17, 160 pounds and a lot of that is fat. I lift every other day, and I don't do a whole lot for cardio besides the occasional basketball game.

I want to lose weight, and put on a little muscle at the same time. I know there probably isn't a lot for that, but at worst case I don't want to gain a lot of weight, but I do want to tone up and put on some muscle which I understand will put on a little weight.

What do you guys recommend?

Start doing cardio. Post your diet. Post your split.

I'm not sure what a split is, but this is my diet. It's not very strict as of yet but I am getting some consistency going

Every morning:
3/4 cup of Oatmeal w/ milk and a serving of raisins on top
Apple

Every Lunch:
Peanut butter and honey sandwich on wheat
Fat-free vanilla yogurt
Serving of trail mix
Serving of plain regular cheerios

Snacks throughout the day:
Serving of almonds
Serving of sliced chicken breast from winco

Dinner:
Varies daily from chicken to pasta to pretty much anything really
Usually there is a salad in there somewhere

Like I said, I do not want to put on a lot of weight with this supplement, but I understand that muscle gain will result in weight gain. I guess I don't want to put on stomach fat is what I am trying to say.

You have literally no protein in the first 2/3 of the day. Fix diet, then look at supplements. What are your goals?

Thanks for the input, that's a good point. I do drink a lot of milk throughout the day (probably 3 big cups a day), so I don't know if that counts for protein.

My goals are I want to lose my stomach fat and put on more muscle.

People think a "strict" diet is a "good" diet and doesn't matter in the leat. Penut butter is incredibly high in fat calories so right off the bat it shows you need to learn more about diet. I don;t understand why people think oatmeal is some magic diet food. It's a starchy carb.

Just eat a balanced diet, exercise more, and replace one meal a day with a protein drink -- anyone will do. Check out NTBM for good prices. You should also supplement with a good multi like DX7 and some GEAR would be a good idea to assure maximum muscle growth while dieting.

Portion control works for me.... I have things in my regular diet that I love to eat and I'd rather cut back on them instead of cut them out. It keeps me from being miserable and helps to keep my sanity. LoL!

Are you reading what people post?

Protein powder doesn't magiclly transform your body.

START DOING CARDIO & eat a balanced diet.
