New PR. 420lbs Bench @ 205lbs.

Hit a new PR this weekend on Sunday. Trained Chest and then decided to see what we had.

I'm wearing a Single Ply Rage X. Closed Back Cut Down Middle

My Bodyweight in this video is 205lbs.

My Goal of Benching Double body weight has been accomplished.

Thanks bro, The transformation is great. I really feel the confidence building up in EVERY aspect of life.

Yea, my ass stays planted. Thank god, because that arch is big and it could look like how the hell does he stay planted....

The one trick i did learn about form....Squeeze knees and hold onto the bench, so you are planted and wont move. So basically with that arch i NEED to grab and hold onto the bench(which promotes a good leg drive)

with a 400lb bench my Total is looking really good.
600 squat
400 bench
550 pull

1550 Total. Goal =]
 
Good stuff MM, very impressive new PR!!! I'm a little more excited by raw lifts however, do you know your current maxes in those?

Because of the bench shirt. You dont need to, but at a certain point it gets VERY HARD to actually lower the bar to your chest in a bench shirt. So i am actually making sure i touched the weight. Odd, yes, but i only lift my head when benching shirted.

LOL im honestly trying. Busting my ass in the gym big time. 400 was mine last week and this week was 420. Im gonna go easy for atleast 2 weeks to really get healed up. I hit the number i wanted too. So no need to proove anything anymore. Gonna build more strenght/speed and then go at it again.

Hey, thanks for the compliment. My Raw Max honestly is around 315. I know the shirt does help tremendously, but i compete in powerlifting so learning how to use the shirt is a must for me.

BTW, even with a shirt on, the pressure and the pain lowering the weight is so intense i pop blood vessels all over. So if say an inexpierienced person tried to bench with a bench shirt, they would have a terrible time learning the new 'groove' they need to bench in.

My Form + Speed allows me to get that 420 up. Nice and tight and didnt move around much.
 
I don't understand the science/logic of how any kind of shirt of any kind of material can improve a bench 105 pounds :(

Mike or somebody else can you explain the technical aspects of how this works exactly?

The spring, unstretchable material that is getting spring, has alot of "energy" stored up. When i push it UP, the shirt uses its spring to get me to where my triceps take over. From mid point up, the shirt is no longer being used. But when the bar is at the chest, the spring, is what helps.

Wild. Good stuff bro, thanks for the explanation. k to ya. How long have shirts been in effect? Were people using them say 15, 20 years ago?

They have been effect for a while now. Old School shirts used to take 3+ guys to put on it was so tight. These days, i can get in/out with 1 person helping (and my shirt is EXTREMELY tight). Bench shirts were around in Ed Coens' days i believe, even tho he lifted raw.

You misunderstood me if you think I was trying to take anything away from you by saying that. I understand it's still a monster lift. I was just honestly wondering your other 1 rep maxes. How is the dead, squat raw max looking now?

oh in no way did i think you were criticising me. I totally understand the RAW vs Gear in Powerlifting. I used to be "oh man shirts are gay", but then realized if you want to compete, you need one lol

My other 1 rep maxes. (From previous Powerlifting competition on DEC2)
Squat: 580
Deadlift: 520
Bench: 320 (i have blown past this barrier)

I also have not tested my 1 rep max in the squat/deadlift since the competition.

The squat is 580 suited, i can hit 450 RAW parrellel.
Deadlift is suited, but the suits dont help much on the deadlift.

the arch actually helps keep everything tight. It also shortens the lenght the bar has the travel. W/O an arch, the bar has to travel way too much down and the range is huge (i have monkey arms, my fingers can almost touch my knees lol) So instead of bitching about long arms, i have to shorten my stroke. Which i why i arched so big.

Don't get that Deca Dick nonsense in your head - I take Deca, and as long as I take more test my dick works like a 16yr olds in a whorehouse

That is the second time i used my shirt in months. Since Dec 2, that was my 2nd shirt day. We had one a week before and nailed 400, so we went for 420 that weekend after.

I prefer raw work, i use the shirt to compete in and utilize the shirt to my max potential, but my raw work is where my heart is, and the stronger raw = stronger shirted/suited.

Like yesterday, since it was my 'light chest day', i did bench press with the special bar that acutally has a curve in it, so when it comes close to the chest it is further then normal. About 3 inches deeper....

was doing 135x5 (sets of 5) with chains, for speed. Now 135 doesnt sound like too much, but when you add 3 inches of ROM to your bottom part off your chest.
