Hey all,

First of all I would like to specify that I am a beginner to this whole "Fitness" thing, yes fitness. So far my life has revolved around bieng a couch potato. To be honest I dont think I have any muscle at the moment, I can barely do 10 reps on the 20's for dumbells. I have the belly etc. Anyway, I've been working on this for about two weeks now and I just wanted to make sure I was able to cope with starting a lifestyle change before I posted so I waited a bit.

Heres what I'm currently doing diet wise, any pointers woud be appreciated. Before I began this I used to not eat at all during the day and just down about three burgers in the early evening and that was it, maybe have some pizza pops late at night before going to bed (I know its horrible) Hardly ever drank water, just pop.

Currently with some advice from a friend, I've managed to turn it around. For fluids, I'm doing about 1.5 gallons of water daily. In terms of Diet, I dont really do any variety but I have a routine thing doing for eating.

7AM wake up, water, 30 min cardio, max incline 3.5 speed walking

7:45-8, First meal, 8 Egg Whites, half a cup of oatmeal. A little bit of salt in the eggs and the oatmeal is just plain in water.

11AM, 2 Pieces of brown bread with either lean turkey breast or tuna with mustard.

2PM, Small serving of brown rice, (Sorry, about half a cup cooked, not sure on the exact amount) with a protein shake.

5PM, 1 Chicken breast grilled with oregano and peppers, Broccoli slightly boiled.

8PM, Carrots, Protein shake, almonds

9PM, resistance training, Currently my friend is just making me do some basic pushups, situps, squats and dumbells. Makes me pretty sore all over but he advised me this is just to get my body in shape to start isolating muscle groups.

11PM, Glass of 2% milk

12ish sleep.

For suppliments, its just the protein shakes and hydroxycut.

Any pointers or advice you fellows can provide. Im just starting out but im extremely motivated atm and working hard, so I dont know much besides the basics like eating more meals a day etc.

Edit: Also, forgot to add, my priority at the moment is to loose fat and build more muscle once I can get that under control. Body wise, I have really thin arms, most of the fat is in my midsection and ass as well as some on my chest and thighs.

How much do you weigh, and how tall are you? I see your diet plan but can you give us how many calories that is in Total?

Edit: Oh yea, Hydroxycut isn't any good. I used to take it and then tried it again, it never really did jack shit for me. It is a waste of money. You are better off ordering some Ephedra + Caffiene off of the net. I'm used to stims so nothing really works for me besides EC. Also, don't depend on the stims to lose weight, they are just excess energy and not something that will melt fat off of you. Just look for the energy to give you more time on the Tread Mill so you can burn more cals there.

I am 5'8 and weigh 207
Calories wise, I'm not sure heh, still working on some of the stuff learning alot from the site though. I believe it should be around 1500-1700 if im not mistaken. I will try to calculate it best I can tonight.

Well, I'm 5'7" and I weighed 255 and ate 1900 calories. That was bad. I currently weigh in at 178 and I'm cutting off of 2500 calories and am considering raising my intake up.

You don't want to drop all that weight too fast, You want to really aim for 2 pounds the most a week. 1500-1700 calories for you at 5'8" and 207 is too small even if your metabolism runs like molasses. At least from my experience but I have a very demanding job that I can get away with high calories. Try raising your calories up first a little bit.

Yeah, so far in the two weeks ive been doing it, honestly speaking I havent seen much of a difference. Kinda shocking to see no change on the weight machine (Although mine is ancient) I think it might be because I am hydrated now and the weight was taken when I was on the pop. As for job, mine sucks for fitness, I am a personal banking officer and I sit on a chair all day long for about 8-9 hours.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on taking control of your life. That is the most important step and nothing to be shy about. Fabulous for you, also, for wanting to learn more about DIET and TRAINING prior to running for pills. There are some great supps out there than can help you, but NOTHING is possible with fitness and a healthy lifestyle if you aren't willing to clean up the diet and work on the training.

1. I just posted a LOT of great information (my personal best, if I do say so myself) on a thread on this forum a few minutes ago. That gentleman is 5'8 and 206, so I bet you could relate a little! Click here to read that thread and look for posts by me. :)

2. At the bottom of this post in my signature is a link to my Log. I have BEEN THERE and DONE THAT and still going strong. I was that *girl* who wanted to lose fat and worry about muscle later. Well boy did that hinder my weight loss at some point! You are SMART to want to work on both at the same time. Please read, read, read, learn, learn, learn and ask away!

I'm usually on the women's board... but I help everyone out. :qt: Best wishes. :)
