New Law in April on HRT Clinics

Just found out through a consultaion with a clinic, starting in April there is a a new law in effect on being treated for HRT. Supposedly, there will be a dissolving in clinincs because they have to comply with a law stating that patients have to actually "see the Dr. in person" before they can script them out any medication for HRT versus just getting a phone call from the Dr. You HAVE to see the Dr. in person. Will the clinics continue with via-phone, bloodwork faxed, consultaion? Yes, but they will probably have to be in compliance since the law takes place soon. Clinics will not ship meds through mail as a result of compliance. This is all I know, as I spoke to a director of a HRT clininc who has just recently gone to a HRT seminar and the word was giving on that matter. On another note, I aslo found out as all these clinics, especially Florida where they are really concentrated, I wonder if the Medications we get are real? Well, BRAND NAME - WATSON and PFIZER are highly reccommended. The thought of the patient getting a "legal" script can worry some because of not wanting to get in trouble with the law in case it is NOT real clinic,Dr., and pharmacy. The patient is protected under the Dr./Clinic law. No worries for us in aother words.:) It is the clinincs that are in trouble and will get shutdown. That is all I can remember that was stated to me that are the MOST important. I hope this helped someone. Feel free to chime in on this topic.:coffee:

Man this will be a huge pain in the ass.I tried to find some info on this but no luck.
Guess i'll e-mail my clinic and see what's up.

What it boils down to is this: First visit will have to be in person with the Dr. at the clinic regardless how close or far away it is. After that visit, there is no need to see him again unless he request to see you in person for bloodwork or other tests that he may want to see. You do get your medications ordered by phone once you have visited the Dr. in person the first time. I hope this is clear, not wanting to confuse anyone. I called again to the clininc and was told the law starts April 13th, 2009. I do not have a link and was told to just google it under telemedicine law. For me, I never saw the Dr. in person at my clinic. I just sent them over my bloodwork and went from there. I am not sure if this is going to apply only to new patients starting at a clinic after April 13th, 2009.

Current patients will not fall under the new law. Just talked to the Clinic. Also not all clinics will fall under the law because there is a loophole. He wouldn't tell me much more than that but said as long as they follow all of the guidelines and have all of the history, bloodwork, ect. on file, its no worries.

Even if for some reason it does end up applying, big deal. I'll book a flight and spend a week in Ft. Lauderdale with my bro that lives down there and have a blast. Damn gov...., they are trying to make me take a vacation. LOL

Stock up boys. I called my clinic (OHARC) and the face-to-face visit is necessary. Existing patience according to them doesn't matter the doc must touch you once a year. That is what I was told.

I think this puts a dent in the way I feel and look for sure. Not alot of aging clinics in my area. Any idea who in congress pushed this through?

I just talked to my HRT Company and he said this is bullshit and there is no law in effect nor on the books. This is a bs thread and now i guess its april fools day!
