New deadlift PR

djeclipse

New member
Most of you know my back story, I was off for about a year after tearing my achilies. Started back in jan bla, bla, bla

Last night I figured I'd see what my max Deadlift is as part of a little deload this week.

BW in the morning is 185, I am carying a bunch of fat still though.

I pulled 455 for a new PR. No straps, no belt etc. Just some chalk.

Had a light hitch just before my knees, I know it wouldn't pass in competition because of this.

It's no record breaking lift by any standards, but a mini goal of mint.

My goal is 5 plates in 2 month's time, and then hopefully adding the 2.5's for 500 won't be a problem.

Nice!

damn dj... you really seem to be built for pulling... your dead numbers don't need much coaxing. congrats! :D

Thx.

Though my pressing is horrible in comparison, something I really need to work hard on.

And I haven't been squatting since I came back because my knee has been hurting me (another soccer injury), but I am starting to get chicken like legs so I'll try them again on Mon.

Here is the vid.

I'm probably about 25% Bf right now a cut will be coming soon, I'd like to try and hit 500 first.

jesus man, good pull especially considering what your LBM is if you are carrying that much BF...
shit im 172 and my 5 rep max is 385 WITH straps!!! I come into these threads and always feel puny lol

nice pull bro, your right you hitched it a little but it was very minor. work on your speed off the floor next dl workout with light weight and then do some rack lockouts till you max out. If you dont smoke 455 the following week do speed work/lockouts again and youll get it. very strong for 185, and keep sticking with chalk only too. BTW when i max out or do max triples i do wear a belt, you would have smoked that with a belt.

Thanks.

I never wear a belt or straps, my grip is fine with that weight (mixed) and I don't want to start relying on a belt.

I won't be pulling my one rep max for a while, I'll be going back to 5 reps next week. The 5 reps with lighter weight I pull as fast as I can.

I was also told on another board that if I still have problems to do pull through's and power shrugs. Also my form is a little off.

For lock outs do I set the bar at my sticking point just above my knees, or below it?

The bar I used was like a cheese grater, it tore my calus right off. I hope it heals by next week.

Get some chalk, it makes a huge difference. It's very cheap, like 5 bucks for a huge brick.

Try chalk and mixed grip for your top sets, eventually you're grip will catch up.

By using straps you're not training your grip at all so it will never get strong. I don't do anything for grip specifically, just deads, rows, weighted chins.

i agree 100% and thats why i said only on max attempts

good plan, what are you doing, 5x5?

I was also told on another board that if I still have problems to do pull through's and power shrugs. Also my form is a little off.
power shrugs would help more on the top half, you started slowing down below your knee, so i dont know. Throw them in and see what happens.

For lock outs do I set the bar at my sticking point just above my knees, or below it?
i would rotate between just below and just above the knee on different days

The bar I used was like a cheese grater, it tore my calus right off. I hope it heals by next week.

Ya, I'm doing the 5 x 5 right now. Though since I've been back I haven't squatted at all because I've been letting my knee rest. But I want to start again on monday.

Power shrugs for the traps, and pull through's to help at the top of the movement.

But I normally don't hitch when I pull. It just kind of happened, I feel it's part of a form issue.

Been working out since Jan 1st...

Body weight at the time: 165lbs

405 kicked my ass and my form was horrible, I know.

In the first vid, what the heck is that tool in the background doing (orange shirt) swinging around like that.

Loose the straps, try using chalk and mixed grip instead of the straps, you should be able to hold the weight and your grip will get stronger.

Also, try keeping your feet closer together and pull up and back, the bar should be in contact with your shins all the way up. You are standing up first and then pulling off the ground.

I pull more then U but my workouts don't work so U say...

What are you trying to do here man? You are starting to troll these threads a little bit. Seriously, give it a rest. You don't need to start up a debate in every thread about your hindu squats, etc.

Lets see the video then. I can internet pull 800 for reps, but real life video doesn't lie.

I've been training for 3 month's, if you have been training longer I would hope you can pull more weight. Keep in mind I am 185lbs and never touched any AAS or even supplements.

How would I know what your workouts are? Why would I care. Are you really that starving for attention that you have to make up shit and post carp like that?

Lets see that vid, and not some other dudes youtube video, I want to see a current paper and say it's for EF to prove it's validity.

I like you e-stats as well , lol
Post the 455 video up

That tool in the background is one of my good buddies and you would be scared if you saw him in person. He is huge and cut and is completely natural. I dont know what he was doing though, lol.

I can pull just as much with chalk and mixed grip as i can with straps. I just didnt have chalk at the time. Why are you doubting my grip strength?

And about my form... Since those videos I have moved down a little in weight and started using correct form, doing the lift with my legs as much as my back instead of standing up and using all back.

What the heck is he doing swinging on the equipment like that? Looks like some kid playing around.

If you always use straps your grip strength will never develop. Most people don't realise how much they can hold with some chalk and mixed grip.

I dunno I think he was stretching. He's like 26 or 27 and has been training for ten years. Dont get ahead of yourself man.

What are you talking about get ahead of yourself, loose the attitude dude.

Swinging/ playing around like that is foolish and would get you kicked from just about any gym regardless of how long you've been training for.

Damn, I just saw this.
How can you @ 25% bodyfat make posts about good diet in the cutting reps thread.

to be honest I was 25% bodyfat like 4 years. I was also 275 pounds at 5'9 @the time too.

LOL you're the last person I would listen too in terms of what to do to get cut.

LOL. You need to calm the FUCK DOWN. You are making yourself look like just as much of a tool as the other dude you're fighting with in this thread.

I just watched the video again and it is quite clear to me that he was stretching.

More ignorance. My current BF has nothing to do with the fact that I know what I'm talking about.

Trying to turn this into a pissing contest does not help you one bit.

Now lets see that vid of yours and prove to us that you're not full of shit.

Stretching by swinging on the equipment? Hardly.

Yah it's definitely something i need to work on (cockinss) not only online but in real life. I've been trying so hard lately to not be arrogant and cocky IRL but I dont know how to change. I guess it's just who i am. Sometimes I feel like i just need to stop talking to people all together

I guess not much has changed. It seems you have a habit of making an ass of yourself all across the internet. Congrats, you've done it again.

what are we fighting about :-\

Not sure, pick something I'm sure we can make another 5-6 pages out of it.

Basically gjohnson5 is an internet strongman with insane internet stats, no real stats, just talk.

And ScMc is an admitted cocky kid that knows he has a problem...

Grats on the PR!

It always feels amazing to reach your goals, and it is awesome to see someone proud of reaching them no matter if they are surpassed by other people are not. Big props!

DJ: Atleast i posted vids and proved my claims... (I know you did too)

I'll just let you know... The guy in that video in the orange is bigger than you, lifts more than you, is more defined than you, AND has better form then you in all his lifts. That is why I'm laughing at you trying to insult the guy.
