New 24" HD Computer Monitor! - Now 2 monitors

Ah, life is good. Who needs handjobs from ef males!

Got a $500 HP w2408h Vivid Color Widescreen 1920x1200. Using my other 20" as my secondary monitor.

Looks sweet.

Now I want to get RID of the other 20", and replace it with a 40" LCD HD TV.

Then if I get a new computer with HDMI, hook that up. Or more likely - use a HDMI-DVI adapter, and hook up 2 hd monitors to my computer.

This way i can video effect, visual fx on my HP, and then preview on my big ass 40" which i'll have snagged at an angle on the wall.

Swivels, raises, lowers, rotates. It's incredible.

Not my idea. I stole it. My friend i saw today, shoots videos for big acts - and has a powerhouse mac, big 24" monitor, and huge LCD fixed at an angle on his wall. In HD.

So when previewing, he just runs it there and with big speakers - looks awesome. And he can still work on his computer on the mac.

Ideas? Knock knock jokes? Comments about the predicted bear stearns bailout with your tax dollars? A more typical RG post. :)

I've been meaning to get a new supra-size monitor
did you do some research and this was the best available factoring in cost as well?

500 seems good for 24"
aren't 20" going for about 400?

btw I bought two different kinds of adaptors in an attempt to use a 26" LCD TV I had as a monitor
picture sucked and/or the shit didn't work
wasted about $150

yeah, you have to have a computer/card have the hdmi/dvi DIGITAL outputs. Otherwise it will always be analog. Until I get my new desktiop, im also on analog for this monitor.

For the LCD wall bracket tv, i'll use a dvi to hdmi adapter. Don't overpay for monster.

How about video games/movies?

with digital out - crisp, clear, perfect. and check this out. it even has a sensor to brighten, darken based upon your room if u want. Lights off, monitor brightens!

and it also has a USB socket, and speakers!

and with my 40" LCD TV, i can even play a game on my wall, while working on my computer. A 36" to 40" with mounting bracket can be bought for <$800.

I think this has 1000 contrast pixels or whatever that means.

There are different types of DVI adapters. There is DVI-I and DVI-D, I think and they are not interchangeable. The picture is nice if you can get it to work.

The best alternative is if you can find a motherboard with an HDMI adapter AND your LCD has more than one HDMI adapter. I bought the roommate a 20" LCD that she can use as an LCD using DVI-I as well.

I just installed an Nvidia Quadro NVS card in my boss' computer that drives 4 monitors with one card.
