Need To Lose Fat!!!!

I am 5'8'' and I weigh around 145lbs. I am not looking to build muscle, but to lose fat. I have excess fat around my hips, lower back, and lower stomach that I desperately want to get rid of. I currently do about 40 mins. of cardio first thing in the morning and I eat light the rest of the day. Mostly chicken and lean pockets. I don't have a set diet, but I am willing to follow any suggestions for rapid weight loss. Aslo, I have taken Xenedrine before and found it to be effective, but I prefer not to take a supplement. Please help! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Doing cardio first thing in the morning is good but eating 'light' the rest of the day isn't, you need to feed your body, eating way below maintenance will tell your body to hold onto the fat. I'd throw away the lean pockets, they may have the word 'lean' in it, but that's only because it's compared to hot pockets which are just horrible for you.

Also you don't want to do rapid weight loss, that goes hand in hand with extreme dieting, and if you're not eating properly in the first place, doing an extreme diet won't really teach you the good foods you need to eat, you need to eat right to lose the weight and eat right to maintain it, just can't abandon the diet after you lose the weight, or it will all come back with a vengeance.

What I did was, I started a CKD but while I was on the CKD, I read posts about maintenance diets, about eating healthy for the rest of your life, so when I came off the CKD, ( I naturally went up some pounds because of the addition of carbs back into the diet ) but I evened out where I wanted to be and now maintain around that level with no problem.

Building muscle will help you lean out....with that being said, nice job on the AM cardio. Combine that with a good diet you should lose some Body fat pretty quickly.
I think diet is key to losing not thermogenics. I feel they are useless.
Try my diet if you want:

Its pretty simple and effective, you will have to drop the lean pockets though, they wont allow you to get that lean IMO.
Try that and drink tons of water and Green tea.

You can track your calories at www.fitday.com

Stay away from MOST processed foods (lean pockets are a good example). Lots of processed foods are nothing but empty calories. Try to cook all of your own meals, and use fresh veggies and fresh meat. I think i saw where someone wrote "Eat clean and you will get lean" and i couldnt agree more.........since i have learned to eat fresh fruit instead of candy bars, and things like baked chicken or fish instead of hamburgers and tacos, the fat is coming off quick.

Also, if your like me and dont have alot of time to cook your own meals. Invest in some sort of vacuum sealer. I bought one from Sears, but i cant remember the brand name. I will usually cook my meals for the whole week, in one day. And i eat 6-8 meals a day!

Good Luck ! ! !

5'8 and 145lbs??? And you think you're overweight? I'm 5'8 and my absolute final goal (which btw I think I'll never reach because I have a lot more muscle now when I was last at the size) is 145-150lbs! And if I made it to that weight with long lean muscles I would be what could only be described as a complete twig. My first goal is a more realistic 160-165lbs which would made me slim but I imagine with still a little body fat. I'm currently 178lbs (I started *dieting* at 240lbs).

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think *dieting* is the way to go for you. You're obviously not overweight, so what you need to do is tone up your body to get rid of those last fatty areas. I know you said that you didn't want to gain muscle.. but if you do the right workout you can gain long lean muscles which will allow you to LOSE INCHES not gain. I do a workout called T-Tapp (www.t-tapp.com) and it allowed my to lose 3inches of my stomach and hips in 2 weeks.

Food wise, don't make my mistake and starting cutting your food intake really low. Yes, you'll lose weight fast... but when you want to start eating again, your doomed. Stick with a very balanced healthy diet rich in fresh fruit and veg, non fatty meats (fish is great!). If you don't want to drop carbs entirely, stick to unrefined ones - opt for wholegrain breads and brown rice and sweet potatoes. And where fat is concerned, choose good fats like flax oil, and omegas (found in fish). I think you'll see a body shape difference a lot quicker if you stick to healthy eating and a good workout.

Hope I helped!
