Need Help with Mass Diet

152 LBS.
Lifting 6 months steady.

I eat a fairly decent diet but I would be lying if I said any less than 1/3 of it was "dirty" calories. I find it's too hard to get enough calories to put on weight unless I use some "dirty" calories, keep in mind this is more like a foot-long sub loaded with cold cuts or a few double cheeseburgers added in, not cheetos or french fries.

Basically I get a pretty high amount of everything (carbs, protein, and fat) but mostly carbs and protein. I try to eat low-gi carbs when I can and all that jazz, i dont worry too much about low fat as it just makes it harder to get the calories I need and I dont have a huge appetite anyways, but I can make myself eat any amount no problem. I try to base my diet around MEAT. I also get plenty of whole eggs.

I used one of those online BMR calculators which i assume are for crap anyways but it says I have a BMR of something like 1900 cals/day. Anyways I'm around 10% bf at 152 pounds and was typically consuming around ~2500 calories a day which I recently bumped up to ~3000.

I get about 150-200 grams of protein on a good day, around 100-150 on a bad one.

What do you think should be my calorie target? I do spread my meals out fairly well (at least 4 meals a day, usually 5 or 6 including PWO shakes etc.)

Was the BMR that site gave me way off? It seems low. Anyways just seeing what you think the optimum calorie surplus would be for quality natural mass. (of course I expect to gain a very small amount of fat, which shouldn't be a problem to lose, I am somewhere between ecto/meso bodytype.)

Any input is appreciated.

I'd say 1900 is definitely a bit low - you probably didn't factor in the 'activity factor' along with it. I'd say typically you'd be burning somewhere between 2500-2700 cals if you are relatively active.

3,000 calories is a good base to start from - you will probably need to adjust it up a little bit but I would give it a little bit and see if you are gaining from it. As long as you are eating clean, healthy foods fat gain shouldn't be all that bad..and if it starts to be just adjust the cals back down a tad.

Unfortunately, it is really hard to predict what your caloric needs are without a ton of experimentation, so it might be an annoying job trying to figure that out over the course of your bulk.

good luck
