hey all .. I've been lurking for a little while absorbing all the knowledge .. It seems like I have myself in a unique situation and I'm not sure what to do.

Firstly, I'm a typical ectomorph with a high metabolism. Been skinny all my life (I'm 21 now). I stared working out in high school and eating more, just trying to get some muscle on my small frame. There is no way I could be a bodybuilder or compete or anything like that. It's genetically impossible. I've accepted the fact that I'll never be huge(without AS). So I'm just
going for tight and toned.

Currently I am 5'11, 165-170lbs. I have decent muscle tone and not too much fat ..
my abs are clearly visible. I have a weak six pack. My main problem lies in my love handles.
They are just way disproportional to the rest of my body and really detract from my overall apperance.

I started doing keto a few weeks back just for fun, and suprisingly, it worked great. My love
handles are also visibly chipping away. However, I need to hold on to what little muscle I have.
I'm afraid with straight keto I'll just wither away. It is extremely hard for me to gain muscle,
and a straight keto diet is probably not the best bet for me.

I've been considering CKD or something like it. Is this my best option? If not, is there
a better one?

I realize there's no magic bullet, but any advice is appreciated.

Because of the rebound affect of the carb up, and the muscle sparing properties of ketones, I'd say that yes, a CKD is probably the best way to lose that last fat and hold onto as much muscle as possible. Mr. X has laid out some really good plans based on body weight with suggested ratios for fats and carbs by day. I'd look at one of those and follow it for a few weeks, tweaking the calories here and there based on how you're losing. The other thing to remember is that you can always put muscle back on once you've gotten lean. Most of us never get completely satisfied, when we're lean, we want to be a little bigger, and when we're big we want to be a little leaner. It's an up and down battle of putting on muscle and trying not to put on fat, and then dropping fat and trying to keep muscle. Good luck with whatever you decide.
