Need advice for a funny situation

I am a personal trainer and work at a gym...well I know a ton of people and workout with men and women that i know for the heck of it. There is a member there that thinks I am having a fling with this guy that she is infatuated with. he does not like her and no we are only friends...have been for about 2 yrs. So I only know this though my friend that works with me. well this woman will not talk to me..makes rude comments when I walk in....and obviously has started some gossip going around.....so how should I handle this since I see her 3-4 a week in the gym...now remeber I work there so I can't just knock her out!

OMG!! Some people have no life at all!! (didn't know you worked at a gym -- kewl!)

If it wouldn't upset anyone in the gym or your hubby -- could you guys play at it to exaggerate her "thoughts" just to mess with her?? Hmmm, I don't know what I'd do.... Sue her for libel/slander?

I only work really part-time until my kids are all in school....It just pisses me off that you can't be friends with a guy without everyone thinking that your having sex....kinda like highschool all over and I had my share of that shit! lol.....maybe I will add to the rumor that I am pregnant with his baby lol....or my hubby and him share me......

Unfortunately when men & women are friends there are all sorts of dynamics between the two primary people as well as a whole truckload of peripheral people.

Maybe you should get that lady a copy of the "He's Just Not Into You"...

I almost feel bad for people like her-- the type who have nothing going on in their lives so they create drama and stew about it. For that type of person, they'll probably dislike you nomatter what....but if he said something to her it would be harder for her to deny. If he told her that he didn't appreciate her spreading lies she would probably be horrified.

Do higher ups at the gym know what's going on? It might be good to clue them in so they don't get gossip going their way that makes you two look bad.

No I don't think they have a clue since no one else has ever even thought twice about it..I worked yesterday and was with a member so she just avoided me...i think the best thing to do is maybe let someone know what is going on just in case...and avoid her unless things don't stop. You think once high school is over things would go away like this lol...but your right...she is jealous and has nothing better to do with her time...i am the type of person that i take it personally and wonder what I did wrong....

It sounds like this whole "relationship" is all in her mind. Probably the best thign to do is just casually make a comment that would state the nature of your relationship w/ this guy so at least she'll relax a little. She really needs to get out more often.

Tell her honestly what the nature of the relationship between you and this guy is and get the guy to tell her upfront that he is not interested in her. bc/ he is seeing someone else.

I agree... you might want to mention this "in passing" to a boss/mgr just in case something gets back to them, crap like this usually does eventually....

As for your high school comment -- I find that, in some people, it gets worse after high school......

....I would confront the chic head on. Course, that's the italian in me. But it's better than having your name slandered. Unfortunately, you can't control what people think...free will sucks sometimes....however, you can control the situation. Confront her with the upper hand...(no not literally...can't pound the chic) be the bigger gal. Tell it to her straight...hell, befriend the hell out of her in front of everyone...take it to the next extreme and call her over to you when you're talking to the guy she's into. Make it so darn obvious that what she's gossiping about and thinking is so way OFF...you'll end up embarrassing the poo out of her....just because you were being friendly. Sometimes that saying kill 'em with kindness....pays off BIG time. If that doesn't work, break it down old school for her...meet her in the locker room. No mercy. Heh. (if only we could settle things that way these days)

I love this!!! Last time I met someone is the locker room I had in school suspension for ramming her head into the wall lol

I told evryone last night so they are aware....She had her daughter come up and ask me a question for her...she is a odd woman.....I need to learn to keep my big ass mouth shut and that would stop alot of the problems.....
