15 guyscompeting for 5 spot??
Why do you say "to make top 15 this weekend". if there are only 5 spots for Nationals?
What are your chances? Healthy?
Well, 20 or more Pro's will be competing. The 5 guys who placed top 5 at Nationals and went to Worlds last year...get an automatic bid to Nationals.
The two competitors who promoted contests this year...also got an automatic bid to Nationals.
They only gave 2 qualifying spots at Boston...barely missed me even with a torn hamstring.
Last weekend they had a contest in Cali where near everyone there who competed got a spot to Nationals. There were only about 12 competitors there and the top 5 non-qualified persons got a spot.
This last contest...they will be taking the next 5 non-qualified guys. Here is the competitor list:
Steve Kirit (qualified)
Jesse Marunde (qualified)
Chad Coy (qualified)
Don Pope (qualified)
Jon Anderson (qualified)
Odd Haugen (qualified)
Phil Pfister (qualified)
Shawn Smith (qualified)
Geoff Dolan (Canadian, can't qualify here)
Abdul Wesoloski
Brian Holt
Clint Darden
Jared Spybrook
Karl Gillingham (been to the Worlds a few times)
Matt Methany (top 10 in the US_
Matt Cook
Nick Courtad(Inj)
Pat McGettigan (top 12 a couple years ago)
Walter Gogola (placed 6th last year, plans to set a new WR log press)
Jason Davidson
Brett Latta
Ron Slusarski
Sam McMahon (good pro, very tough)
Chad Smith (placed 6th 2 years ago, AMAZINGLY strong)
My chances are slim...to be honest. I am going to have fun, give it my all, and let the cards fall where they may. If I qualify...I qualify. If not...I don't.
My hamstring still hurts and hinders my training and progress. I'm getting stronger every week.
Loaded my 365 stone to 61"
Squatted a raw 607 x 2 and 495 x 8
Log clean and press with 325.5 x 1
Viking Press with 355 x 2
Super Yoke Walk with 1k x 25'
I'm stronger on some things but with a lot more pain than normal. All in due time. I'm still a rookie and injured.
