She's not even country

btw, thx 4 Nancy'ing up mm's "Nanotech Food - Color Me Paranoid but I Find This Disturbing" thread.

You could Nancy-up a girl-on-girl bikini jello wrestling match.

Just sayin'

oh and wouldn't it be neat if we could maybe talk about nanotech food, you know, the topic of the thread. Not to dismiss discussions of hot wimminz and rampaging zombie plagues, but seriously.....back on topic?

That would seem more serious if the last off-topic post prior to the request hadn't been made by you.

Why bother? Seriously, what's the point? Virtually nobody gives enough of a shit to even bother reading the articles so they have no idea what I really posted about. Trying to have an even halfway serious conversation about the topic of environmental toxins or the continued compromise of our food supply is basically hopeless.

People don't care, don't want to care, or refuse to look beyond certain paradigms. I don't have a string of letters after my name, I don't work for the FDA, the EPA, the AMA or Monsanto so my opinion is worth exactly what it costs to read it on these boards.

I'm over it.

I found it all very interesting MM.
You know what they say, if you can even only save one life it is worth it. LOL I'm your one.:p

I still haven't read the articles. :) For the record, I purchase grass fed and finished beef from a farm in NY so I do care about my health. However, concerns about GM foods are pretty much overblown...

The problem isn't people not reading articles. It's an issue of comparative impact. People who worry about GM foods or subtle environmental toxins are typically so focused on these issues that they overlook the more fundamental ones.

I avoid our local health nut grocery store like the plague. But when I do get stuck there, it never ceases to amaze me. I'll watch some woman hassle a clerk over the contents of a random food item. But guess what? The woman looks a good 15 lbs overweight and doesn't look like she's experienced vigorous exercise in months (if not years).

If you are within 2 lbs of your ideal bodyweight, carefully balance your daily regimen of both cardiovascular training and resistance training, plan your effective sleep strategy (including support surfaces, timing of sleep and hours), carefully plan your meal portions by calorie count, get blood draws and comphrehensive blood work on a monthly basis and stay under a physician's care, manage your exposure to supernormal stimuli (including TV, movies and Internet), and remain constantly vigilant to maintain proper of airflow and fume exhaust all around you at all times, then you probably are ready to make sure your radishes were grown and harvested in the proper manner. Otherwise, it's largely wasted effort.

P.S. I do think we have an evolutionarily-instilled fear of putting something "bad" into our bodies. That's where some of that irrational fear comes from. And if you don't think we have irrationally-elevated fears driven from evolution, consider this: There are tens of thousands of people who are 100+ overweight who are slowly eating themselves to death -- but are afraid of spiders, snakes (or whatever).

and chlorine. At least that one is very easily neutralized by plain old ascorbic acid if you want to drink or soak in tap water.

difference is media type, MM. People have this dire misconception that if it is important it will be a big headline story. It not, then it cannot be that serious an issue, right?

You're refering to chlorine right? Thanks. Good one to know!

As a mother of a child with Autism and who is in the camp that believes the U.S.'s way of immunizing children is what is triggering the hereditary Autism gene to run amok (think the movie Legend), I am very wary of anything at the cellular/molecular level.

I have my son on something that maybe totally hocus pocus, but it's "zeolite" by Waiora and is suppose to be a gentle way of doing kelation. It's from lava and is suppose to remove the toxins like thimerosol (sp?) from his system. I don't particular think it's thimerosol is the cause. I believe his immune system has run amok from being overcharged w/immunizations. (Other industrialized countries DO NOT immunize with as many as we do.- on the same note as flouride and GMOs etc...) Just because WE do it, doesn't mean it's the best way to do things and that it's okay and safe. Very arrogant way of thinking and it makes us trust too much in the big powers that be that everything they is is right and okay. Just ask my son- Oh, wait, you can't.... he's locked up inside and speaking English is like you speaking a new foreign language- every day is a struggle to express himself, but if he could express himself, he'd give the powers that be a big middle finger.

Have kids? Look at their shot records and compare to yours- soooo many more shots than what we had and did we die off by the thousands because we didn't have as many? No. I don't let him have any more shots. With everyone else getting shots anyway, he'll be fine. Yes, at the molecular level we just assume eveything is okay because can't feel it or see it.
