Nanotech Food - Color Me Paranoid but I Find This Disturbing

can somebody pass me the tinfoil?
Did you actually read any of the articles? These nanoparticles are so small they cross the blood-brain barrier. How can our body detox them if they're smaller than cells? How can you you just blow off something like this with such a patronizing comment? What is it with doctors refusing to see toxins in food and the environment impact health?

nanotech is no fucking joke. A relative of mine is one of the premier nano tech experts in the country and possibly the world. I can't follow half of what comes out of his mouth but the general picture is that this shit is not to be fucked with. There's huge upsides to this technology....but as usual people move with shit before it's been thoroughly vetted. So count on some greedy businessmen to do shit, like this food business for example, before they really know what the fucking consequences are. THe general public should be as insulated as earthly possible from these particles for decades to come, if not a century or more. No product that has the chance of exposing people internally to these particles should make it's way to market before they have absolute concrete evidence that their ability to pass cellular membranes is benign. Some of these particles will have benign effects on human physiology....but some could be catastrophic.

Basically I don't trust humans in the slightest with this sort of technology so it should be visciously controlled. Won't happen here cause the govt. is owned by business, so what they say goes.

If you believe that, shouldn't government be reduced at all costs so to prevent this horrible abuse?

I didn't read the article but the hoopla about genetically modified foods is pretty much bs. Humans have been genetically modifying their food crops since they invented agriculture. Another example, Aspartame is the methyl ester of a phenylalanine/aspartic acid dipeptide....it's harmless unless you suffer from the rare condition of phenylketonuria.

maybe I'm thinking of something different, but I could swear i just read about aspartame being horrible for your brain. It imbeds itself inbetween neural receptors and basically fucks your brain chemistry. Does it completely shut your brain down, no...but cumulatively it limits your brain function over time. That's the problem with these things, it's cumulative so people think it's harmless.

or we should forcibly change govt. Our govt. is unacceptable but things would be worse without. Seeing as how the meat industry has no interst in regulating itself we'd have alot more people dying every year without govt. inspection.

You'd have a point if humans were more respectable and inclined to do what's right. But since that isn't the case and never has been.......:whatever:

... then maybe we should give government less to be stolen or manipulated by evil corporate America?

P.S. I'm loving the nutrasweet imbeding itself inbetween receptors in your brain thing.

Aspartate and glutamate act as neurotransmitters in the brain by facilitating the transmission of information from neuron to neuron. Too much aspartate or glutamate in the brain kills certain neurons by allowing the influx of too much calcium into the cells. This influx triggers excessive amounts of free radicals, which kill the cells. The neural cell damage that can be caused by excessive aspartate and glutamate is why they are referred to as "excitotoxins." They "excite" or stimulate the neural cells to death.

Aspartic acid is an amino acid. Taken in its free form (unbound to proteins) it significantly raises the blood plasma level of aspartate and glutamate. The excess aspartate and glutamate in the blood plasma shortly after ingesting aspartame or products with free glutamic acid (glutamate precursor) leads to a high level of those neurotransmitters in certain areas of the brain.

The blood brain barrier (BBB), which normally protects the brain from excess glutamate and aspartate as well as toxins, 1) is not fully developed during childhood, 2) does not fully protect all areas of the brain, 3) is damaged by numerous chronic and acute conditions, and 4) allows seepage of excess glutamate and aspartate into the brain even when intact.

The excess glutamate and aspartate slowly begin to destroy neurons. The large majority (75 percent or more) of neural cells in a particular area of the brain are killed before any clinical symptoms of a chronic illness are noticed. A few of the many chronic illnesses that have been shown to be contributed to by long-term exposure to excitatory amino acid damage include:
