78HP? That's exciting! My Corolla Diesel is only 47HP. (but seriously, the torque will pull a house off it's foundation, just about).
I've been busy and haven't tried to drive it on the road yet. I got the last few things (new glow plugs, some hoses, etc) that I needed to make it ready to test-drive. Maybe Monday.
I'm going out to look at another Buick Century later today (one with a common, ordinary, ho-hum gas V6), which flunks inspection but has a showroom-condition interior. If I buy that one, it has all I need to make the Diesel one "perfect" physically, including factory radio with stereo 8-track tape player.
Now I hope everyone knows that I know, the whole point of fixing up this car, is to get laughed at in car shows . Honestly, every time I do this, the laughter turns into "Wait a minute: I haven't seen one of these in running condition in (x) years... In fact I don't think I've ever seen one in person!" Then all of a sudden they think it's cool that somebody actually "saved" such a worthless hunk of junk from the scrap yard.
