My Fury-ous Review

New member
Well today was supposed to be speed day, but since I hadn't tried my shirt out yet I decided to make it an ME day. So I went in and got real warmed up waiting on my friend who was gonna help me get it on.

First I will say that when I first received the shirt I was not impressed. It took over 4 weeks to get and then I thought the sleeves were too small. So I was a little biased when I took it in today to try out.

Well I will tell everyone here right now that this shirt is AWESOME! This is my first shirt that I've ever gotten, I have tried on some of Screwballs and Benchs, but none of them were ever a perfect fit. So heres how the workout went.

I decided to use a 3 board to see what would touch. So with my friends help I wriggled into it. It took maybe 30 seconds, if that. When you put it on, put both sleeves thru the openings then put your head thru. Then have someone pull it down. The arms are very tight! Mine is a supposed to be a meet fit and if it is, the comp fit must be unbelievably tight.

225 on the bar: The bar dropped about an inch!
315: The bar came down just a little more
365: Still was nowhere near a 3 board
405: almost down to 3 board, about 2-3 inches from it
455: touched barely, I pulled the shirt down about an inch and cinched the belt on tight to hold it. This is the best I've ever done on this exercise, by far. My previous best was a close miss at 365 on a 3 board, couldn't get it off the board. I was incredibly happy with the performance of this shirt. Next time I will know what to start with so I won't wear myself out. And next time 495 will go up. I locked out the 455 by myself, the spotter did not help, which really made me happy since I didn't know where my lockout was really at.

If you think that I'm happy with the shirt, that's because I am! As you can see it added over 100 to my 3 board. Not sure exactly how much.

Another thing that really impressed me with this shirt was the pop it gave off the boards. I had a pretty good pause on the boards, and then when I shoved it up, the bar went above where a 5 board was. So basically with this shirt if your speed is good and you 5 board is strong, you'll bench a ton!

After this I did 5 board with blues choked. I worked up to 225x2x3, 275x2, 315x1, and 365x1. I did these shirtless. Then did light shoulder presses and hammer curls.

Things to consider when getting one of these:

-Give exact measurements!(and remember that the arm measurement is flexed)

-Make sure the tape is tight around your arms and chest

-Order plenty early so the shirt will get there in time for you to work with it and learn it. They say 3 weeks, but I would give them 5 to be safe!

-This shirt is awesome because it didn't seem to want to pull me out of my groove. I have tried on other peoples denim and it always wanted me to go the wrong way.

-Wear a belt to hold the shirt down. This shirt really seems to want to ride up. and if it does it will pull you out of your groove.

Well hope this helps people decide whether or not they want to get one. By the way, the Boss shirt will be coming out in 8-12 weeks and I'm on the waiting list already!!!!!!!!

Be safe and train hard......Later

good god, 455 to a 3 board? 100 lb PR???

i think im in love (with the shirt that is) .. now to go make my triceps outrageously strong so i have good use for it.

Care to say what aspects of the shirt you like?
like the ease it went on, the design, how it feels when your lowering it(like cutting) ... i really wanna know as much as i can about the shirt.

Okie...did the shirt seem to pull your shoulders together? The reason I ask is that Spatts tried her shirt today and it took us 20 minutes to get it on. And we didn't get the arms up far enough I don't think. It was REALLY narrow through the shoulders. And she couldn't get 221 to touch a 3 Board...not sure how much she was pulling. Just wondering what the FEEL was of the shirt. You seemed to get yours on ALOT EASIER than she did. She has an AWESOME LOCKOUT and I want to take advantage of it if we can. I don't want to send the shirt back as being too tight if we can figure how to make it work. She is just going to get stronger between now and December.

I will say that as tight as that son of a bitch was on her...she only got on "zebra stripe" and it was at the pec tie-in. Nothing on the back of her shoulders or armpits.

Dec, well I liked everything about the shirt except for the wait to get it. Well I really didn't feel the cutting until I took the shirt off and saw that the inside of my tri's looked like someone took barbed wire to it. It's awesome that it goes on so easy and still gives you so much.

Hannibal, if it didn't even mark her it is just right, possibly a little loose! My arms look like shit, it didn't hurt real bad while using it but afterwards it stung a bit. Make sure that she puts both arms in then gets the rest on. In the pic you showed she only had one arm all the way in and was trying to get it on from there. I don't believe it will ever happen if you go about it like that. Put both arms in, put your head thru, pull it down. EASY!

Good fucking luck pulling against it though, if it's tight enough you'll just have to figure out what weight to use and let the weight touch by itself. I think mine will take over 5 to touch. We will see next week when bench shows up to help. With more motivation, my hat and better music 500 will go up!!!!!

Guys work on your 5 board and reverse grip board presses and you'll like the results with the shirt.

Hannibal, sorry forgot to answer your last question. Hell yes it pulled my shoulders together. When I got it on and relaxed my arms were sticking straight out, no shit. I was relaxed and my arms wouldn't even come down an inch. Be sure to wear a belt to hold it down. Later

Okie...yeah that pic of her, was her putting it on by herself. When she got over here Project and I got the sleeves up as high as we could get them...and then pulled the neck over as fast as we could.

Let me ask you this...was the material flush against your chest? I think what happened was that we didnt get the arms up far enough...there was a lot of space between the shirt and her chest...so it REALLY pulled her shoulders together.

We are going to try it again on Wednesday. And I think you are right...going to have to let the weight do the lowering. Her lockout is blowing up...if we can just get this shirt to work she will be even more of a FORCE. Wednesday we are going to try to get the arms up as high as we can before we pull the neck over...think that is where we made the mistake. Might even do a board "progression" add weight and reduce the boards...till we see what it takes to touch 2 boards. If this is the shirt for her that will be a good way to break it in.

I think the problem is that they only take Chest and Bicep measurements. They don't take shoulders into account. And Spatts has very broad shoulders, relative to the rest of her. However, I still think this might wind up being the right shirt for her...with a little more work.

However...after seeing what it took to get that shirt on her. I love my open back denim (that I can almost get on by myself) that much more.

FXcking shit BigOkie!!

Man-I was impressed with what you got out of Screwballs Titan, Im fxcking jealous what your getting out of yours. I thought a denim would be my next shirt, now I've about changed my mind.

Jesus, I better hurry up and get one before everyone in the OkieCrew leaves me far behind on the 500lbs bench quest.

Hell at this rate, ya'll might squeeze Benchmonsters son(Piss-maybe even one of the girls) into a Fury and blow me away! Now I gotta play some SERIOUS catch up. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere!

Honestly man Im freakin glad you found one that works for you-Now, go and tear that 500 the F' up!

Later..

Well, Hannibal the material did not even come close to my chest. I am very broad shouldered for the size of my chest. I would suggest not trying to get the sleeves on as far as possible. To get it on, just slide the sleeves up until they are a few inches past the wrists, then put your head thru. This allows you to do it easier with less pain, which is good! If you try to get the sleeves up as far as possible before putting your head thru it will be very uncomfortable for her neck and back. Then when someone is pulling it down, tell her to try to spread her arms like doing a rear delt raise standing up straight. This allows it to slide down and it seems to work better. The distance between sleeves on the front of my shirt is probably 4" or less, so as you can see my arms are pointing straight forward. When I got down to bench I got my left arm on the bar and then had to slingshot my right arm over to get it to grip on the bar at the right spot. But after wearing it for a few attempts it slid on a little farther and was able to get my hands on the bar very easily.

Try this before you send the shirt back. It sounds like it is about right for her. If she can lock out what it will take to touch.

OOPS- One more thing...

have you and Screwball thought about the MadDog Meet? Sept 14th in Muskogee. The Crew should come out in full force for this one!

BTW-What color did yours come in?

This is why I was looking forward to your Fury-ous review. I agree with you...I think this is the shirt for her. In case you missed it on the Asylum Numbers thread....SHE LOCKED OUT 403 today. I think if she can get 300 to touch she will fuckin blow it away. And thats before running through any band bench phase.

This is the first time she has ever had a bench shirt that even remotely was sized for her. And she only took 2 weights or so. Wednesday we will do it a little different. And find out what it is going to take to touch. If it is something that she will be able to press in a few months then its the right shirt.

Thanks for the help brotha....

Glad to hear everyone is impressed with the Fury like I was. Titan makes a great shirt. I can't wait to try the BOSS. BigOkie, that was an awesome workout! You are making some tremendous gains. Keep pushing hard. It sounds to me like our shirts have a similar tightness the only differences are that your shirt may be a bit tighter and mine is the competition cut - close to equal in the end. Do you agree? You need to find out what it will take to touch. I got 455 down to the 3-board fairly easily but the 475 was an inch or two from touching my chest. I think it will take right at 500 to touch. It sounds like you're in a similar situation. Let me know if you guys train next weekend and I'll try to make it over there to help out.

Spatts, the shirt needs to be tight. The tighter the fit, the more you get out of the shirt. Common sense. The only other thing to keep under consideration is: "Can I lock-out what will touch in the shirt?" If you can't lock-out the amount of weight it will take to touch in the shirt then you might as well be wearing a T-shirt. You need to start with the boards (3-4 board) and work your way down (1-2 board) to a weight that will touch your chest. You need to do this in the next week or two so that you will know whether or not to return the shirt. You could probably get 250 down to a 3-board so it will probably take a little over 300 to touch. That sounds to me like right where you want to be. But, remember you will have to open with 300+ if you use this shirt exclusively. You could get a loser-fitting shirt to open in or you could open raw to get your first attempt.

BigOkie gave you some very good tips for getting the shirt on. These are my suggestions:

- Pull one sleeve on by yourself as far up as you can pull it
- Have someone assist you with pulling the other sleeve up
- Only pull the sleeves up about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way so that you have room to slip your head through the neck opening
- Once you have your head through your hands will be sticking straight up over your head
- Have your asistants (2 preferably) pull the shirt sleeves up and make sure the seams in the arms run down the back of the arm correctly (split the triceps)
- The most difficult part in the process is getting the shirt pulled over the shoulders evenly
- It helps if you have a person working each side so the shirt can be pulled down evenly and at the same time
- Have your assitants use their elbows and bodyweight to pull the shirt down
- Make sure the head and neck are centered directly in the shirts neck hole - an even gap between the shirt neck and the lifters neck, all the way around
- Once you're in the shirt use a smimming motion with your arms to seat the shirt on your arms and shoulders
- My shirt was fairly comfortable, the only place I felt a little pain was on the triceps up near the armpit - I had a few marks the next day on my outer pecs and under my arms
- I don't recall the shirt pulling my shoulders together to any great degree but it was a little difficult getting my hands out to index on the rings
- Use a belt to hold the shirt down

If you can get this shirt to work then you will pushing some big numbers but it sounds like it may be one or possibly two sizes too small. There is no way it should take 20 minutes to get a shirt on (any shirt by any maker). BigOkie and I both got into our shirts in less than 2 minutes. Let us know how the test goes on Wednesday. If you have to send the shirt back tell Titan that you require the replacement shirt in less than two weeks. Don't let them make you wait for an exchanged item, they have your money. Sorry about the preaching but I have a huge pet peeve about big companies screwing honest, hard-working people. Good luck!

What's up Screwball? Glad you saw this. I am very impressed with the shirt. I can't believe what a comp fit will do for me, if this is only a meet fit. I am really thinking that it will take over 500 to touch. Maybe in the realm of 500-520. Not bad. With some work over the next few months I should be ready for Dec. Are you gonna come to the Dan Austin meet? If you are I think we should make a good natured bet, loser buys the beer! But Bench can't play! I also have a denim on the way that should be good, but probably a bit looser. I just want to experiment around and find what works best for me.

So what do you think, Are we on for the bet?!?!

VDOP: I'm in for the MadDog Meet on Sept 14th in Muskogee. We all need to get into competition to see where we're at in our training. This meet is unsanctioned and the rules are loose but we can simulate a strict meet ourselves when lifting. Sorry to hear about your RDC experience. I haven't had very good results either so I don't plan on giving him anymore of my future business. Later!

Sept 14th...I'm in. Don't know about any "friendly bet"...sounds pretty costly to keep you guys in beer.

Unsanctioned? Thought it said in the PLUSA that it was a WABDL Meet? Either way...I'm in

Hannibal: Humm, I may be confused but I think that's what Bmonster told me unless he was talking about a different meet. ??? Someone please enlighten me, Bmonster, BigOkie or VDOP?

BigOkie: Feeling pretty confident, are we? I'll take your bet, your gonna regret because I'm the best there's ever been! Charlie Daniels' in the mother fuckin' house! I take it this bet only concerns the biggest, passing bench press? Bmonster should be in on the bet as well. I fear no man or monster! :D Oh, and another thing, you aren't allowed to bring your 3-board with you to competition and as we all know the last three inches on the descent are the most difficult part of the lift assuming the shirt is fitted properly. :D How about we add the deadlift in there too? Maybe we should base the bet on total? All I know is, regardless of a win or loss I'm going to be drinking a Hell of a lot of beer. :D

Screwball I may be confused as well. I am sitting here looking at the listing in PLUSA.

SEP 14: WABDL 9th Mad Dog BP (Muskogee,OK)

That's what it says. Guess we'll have to wait for benchmonster to log on and straighten this out. Need to get some new briefs if I am gonna pull also.

i have heard some mixed reviews about this shirt. but this is the same with everything. some people like fords some like hondas. if it works for you then by all means jump on it and milk it for all it's worth. it sounds like you have something there. if you have the cash to spend on shirts, then definately try them out. i think it's very helpful to see what other people think about the shirts.

It used to be an unsanctioned anything goes meet. But as usual with most good things, some idiot fucked it up. I was just told that this is the 1st year it will be WABDL sanctioned. Still pretty loosely judged tho.

Reason they have a sanctioning body now is that a couple of idiots last few years have been in there raising their ass 18 inches off the bench and bouncing the bar off their ribcage to get 400 lb benches, and the meet director was afraid somebody would get hurt.

No big deal. Still double ply allowed. So that is cool. And the judging at WABDL is very lifter freindly.

I will be there for sure. Hannibal, if you need a place to stay you are welcome in my house.

As for the friendly wager, I might be interested if I am invited. I would even be happy to agree to terms. I will spot everybody 50 lbs. Any takers?

B.

Screwball, hell no, no deadlift included. You'd kill us! :) Well I figure that you got to go a little heavier than me to get it down, so I think it will be even. Either way, with a little bet it gives us a reason to work harder! Anything that pushes us harder will make us better!

Have you been able to wear your shirt anymore? I'm gonna try to train in mine every week for at least 6 weeks before taking a break from it. It's almost as easy as a denim to put on, but I think maybe a little more painful. Though I don't feel the pain til it's over and the shirt is off.

Bench, well you might be invited but you gotta give us 75! And this won't be judged by formula, not that you'd need it! Are you gonna get a Fury to try? I think you might get a lot out of it too. I got 125 the first time I wore mine. WIth a little more practice might be able to get 150ish out of it. You can try mine on and see if you like it. It should be just about right except maybe a bit tight in the chest for you.

We are the champions, my friend......And we'll keep on fighting til the end

OOPS!. Forgot to ask a couple things. Screwball have you shirted up to see what it will take to touch? I know 475 wasn't really close for you the other day. I'm excited about trying a full range press with the shirt. I think the way it's designed it will give even more pop off the chest then other shirts. That's what I'm hoping at least, that way my 3 board would be at the meet in spirit! :)

Anybody know what blues add on at the lockout? I did those blues choked on the 5 board and was just curious to see what that would be close too.

Is the meet in Muskogee the one that's at the mall? Is this the same one you guys were talking about? Let me know how to get signed up for it. Hopefully will be able to figure out a way to make 450 touch by then. That gives us about 6 weeks to get ready.

Bigokie,

I sent you a PM like 20 years ago about Bench shirts, if you get chance hit me with a Rizzz-Ponse. If you deleted the PM then check your elitefintess email.
Peace,
Natural-Mike

The Okie Bet defined

I propose the following bet:

The loser buys the first two rounds

The runner-up buys the third round

The winnner gets his first three rounds for free

All subsequent rounds will be at the drinkers discretion.

The contest will be pound for pound and mano y mano. The lift has to be the biggest passing bench of the day (amongst the betters). Missed attempts don't mean a thing. If VDOP and Hannibal want to get into the mix then welcome to the party.

BigOkie: The meet is scheduled for Sept 14. That means we only have 3-4 weeks to get ready. I assure everyone that I will be peaking at that time. Peaking physically, mentally, spiritually and anabolically. :D

I'm in....don't worry, I'll bring money :lmao:

I still have not figured out if I am officially in this bet or not, but I will be opening at 500, so eat your wheaties boys.

I may move up a weight class for this one too. Will have to see what the scale shows the week before. If I knew Jason Jackson would be elsewhere, I would definately be going 242. Oh well, I guess I need to take my medicine.

Will be dropping down to 220 in November, but I have no interest in dieting till then. I am not much of a drinker, but I may trade out the drinking in lap dances, not sure of the exchange rate on those, but I am sure we can figure something out.

B.

Screwball, your on! Better bring your cash son. I'm gonna wail on you!!! :) Sounds like a deal. I have to have something to work towards and this should really help out. Also, money in the mix makes it even more fun!

Hannibal, well bring whatever you want. Money, beer, women! Anything goes. Personnally I'm gonna hire strippers to give you, Screwball, Bench and VDOP handoffs so that you will be distracted. HAHAHA Victory will be mine...woowoohaahahaha<evil laugh>

4 weeks to go. So what is everyones plan to prepare, anyone gonna try a circa max phase? Any special trick exercises that you guys gonna try?

I'm gonna try a Westside/Metal Militia mix. Should be interesting. I've got to do something to learn these shirts in 4 weeks.

I'm with you...gotta learn how to use a fuckin shirt. I tried on my OTHER Inzer yesterday...the one that is the same size as the one I gave to Bench...pulled the neck up some, got 425 within an inch before I pressed it back up. I was kinda spent after all the speed work so I didn't go any higher...but I think I can get 440-450 to touch.

I am in the middle of a Circa Max Phase...sort of modified it a little like the one that Dave posted the other day.

Speed Bench:
After warmup...
5 sets of 3 @ 115 +2 Mini's
2 sets of 3 @ 115 +2 Mini's and 1 set of chains
1 set of 3 @ 115 +1 Mini

Gonna do ALOT of band lockout moves in the next couple of weeks. Also gonna do some floor presses as part of my extra work to get stronger at the bottom. With all that and getting a shirt figured out it should be a decent day.

Well I would tell you guys my plan, but then I'd have to kill you all. And that would take a lot of time to kill everyone that reads this! HAHAHA

Anyways, my plan is mainly to do shirt work every week until the meet except for the week of the meet. Also gonna throw in lots of tri stuff. Specifically 5 board with blues choked, pushdowns with bands behind head. As far as speed work goes, I'm gonna stick with chains and a blue or green choked down to stress the lockout. Hopefully will be able to get under 500 to touch. Lots of rotator stuff and lots of upper back stuff. Since we've only got four weeks I may focus on bench during this time to get ready for the meet.

Okay Bench you can play too, but you gotta give us a handicap. Like 40-50 pounds. What do you think?

Screwball and VDOP, we are gonna train this Sunday if you guys would like to be there. If Screwball comes it will be at the dungeon, if not it will be at Stillwater.

Screwball, check your email please.

VDOP, what is the name of the gym in the city that had the monolift and the rev. hyper?

Thanks fellas and better start getting ready, less than a month to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm definitely in for Sunday at the Dungeon. This is just what I needed to light a fire under my ass. This bet is going get me over the hump. There's nothing like a little friendly rilvalry to up the bar. See everyone on Sunday. :D

What's on the "menu" for Sunday...Max Effort Exercise wise I mean? I joked about it last time...but I might have to make the trip. Could stand a good ass kicking to get my mind right for Sept.

Reason they have a sanctioning body now is that a couple of idiots last few years have been in there raising their ass 18 inches off the bench and bouncing the bar off their ribcage to get 400 lb benches,

<Sounds like he is talking about me and my type!!

Why dont we make the bet based on improvements from each of our last contests? We all pool in say 10 bucks or so, winner take all? BUT- If Im going to be dumb enough to bet with you guys, we get to go double or nothing on the deadlift at the next 3lift or push/pull meet!!

My shoulder is still giving me fits. Im not sure if I will compete(but I will be there)next month, take a layoff, train with a shirt for support till my Oct meet, or just plain cut my arm off!! I have reduced my speed day %'s, and its reducing the pain a little, but its still not enough.>>Any suggestions, Im desparate at this point.

Not sure about sunday-have inventory FRI-SAT. -So I will probably be fried. Suppose to squat due to schedule interferrance, but dont count me out yet.

BigOkie-Youre hiring strippers for our handoff's??!!?? WOOHOO!!
I may get a PR in my singlet!!

Later..

Screwball, see you there, tiny! HEHEHE I'm gonna outweigh you, I'm gonna outweigh you!<in a taunting voice> I should go into the meet at 305, if everything goes as planned!

Hannibal, drive down man. Don't know what will be using but it has to be something shirted cause me and Screwball still got to test out or shirts! Plus I really need to see what is gonna touch in the Fury!

VDOP, well if you can't make it that's understandable. But if you can, great!

A pr in your singlet, huh, well maybe but no one would be able to see it! :)

About your shoulder, go read Dave's new article on his sight about breaking the 600 barrier, it tells what he did to get his shoulder healthy again. Lots of light, light db raises mostly. It would probably work.

No promises...but I will try. I don't want my guys to miss a Sunday workout because I take a road trip. We'll figure something out.

Gotta battle with the big dogs if I am going to keep from buyin beer all night after the meet.
