My doc just gave me an injection for bursitis...anyone had this?

I have had glute pain since August. NSAIDs didn't help. So I went into the doc's office and I basically said, look, screw the NSAIDs, I want to SOLVE this problem and solve it fast. What can we do to facilitate this? He thinks it's bursitis, and he suggested an injection of corticosteroid. The steroid to treat the inflammation and the injection to also pop the enlarged bursa.

I went ahead and did it, it was really fast. Anyone had this done? Should I be worried?

Do you feel better?

You must train your hips man...train your injury...don't train around it.

Can you give us more of a background as to your injury? What hurts, what exercises, what makes it feel better, what have you done to improve it?

I hurt it on a hike that gained 7000ft elevation. It is, as far as I know, an overuse injry. Only the right glute hurts. I took 2 weeks off training legs, and stretched it. This was in August. Then I started training legs again, and it felt better for a while, but I still could not jog or cycle or hike without pain. It has been getting worse the last 3 months, especially when sitting.

It certainly feels like muscle pain, right in the belly of my glute (i.e. my ass cheek). Stretching an injured muscle usually helps loosen it and makes it feel better, but stretching this does not.

My Dr. suggested that for the bad bursitus that I have in my hips, but I haven't gone through with it yet.
