My Daytona Experience!

Its actually what i expected. I do horibably there. And problem is since i do these once every year and a half or so i am stuck with a shity ass total! It would be ok if i did these every few months like a bench meet, i can come back and redem myself. Hell i have had some shitty ass bench meets too. But it doesnt get me too down cause i come back in 2 months and do it again.

SQUATS: They called my name and i wasnt ready. So i passed my 1 st attempt. Second attept i took my original opener of 705lbs. Good. Then i tell them 737 and i got in the back and told Jimmie Dean i was going to do that then go 766. Came out and did the 737 but was called on depth. Guess what that was it! I toally forgot when i told them that it was my last attempt. I may have not jumped to far but would have did 750 at least. My wife who is a judge said she thought i was high too. So i fucked my self. It felt light , just high!

Bench: 562 good, 600 good, 622 missed lockout. I forgot to latch my belt it may have helped up but may have caused problems coming down. So catch 22. BUT i set a new APF Florida State Bench press record! The good point of the meet for me.

Deads: warmep real slow and cautiously. I did what i said and droped my opener from 551 to 534lbs. Pulled 495 in the back nice. Went out 534 no problem. Next attempt 562. I dont remeber much but i know i tried so hard to show control that after i locked out i leaned back so far my knees re broke. No freakin lift. Last attempt. i want in it. Didnt really get a good pull from the start did try hard or should i say long. Went up then down. So i ended up 4 out of 9. You cant win or even come close to reaching your potential going 4 out of 9. Hey at least i did better then in 2000. I did 3 out of 9.

No excuses at all. Every thing i was red lighted on accept the 622 i lifted. Just lacked the technical to get the whites. If i would have just got my 2nd squat and second i deadlift i would have totlaed around 1900 and got elite.

But i have no injuries and feel good! Physically and mentally! The soonest i can three lift again will be the same meet next year. Its bench only for me till then. I have the WPO BB for cash that is in Nov, and i plan on finishing top 3 and going to the Arnold. That is the plan and that is the goal and focus.

The APF bench Nationals and WPO BB qualifier was today my buddy Ron weighed 179 and bombed for the 4th meet in a row. But there was some big benches there. Carpenter, is going Gallagher bombed, Neally did 611, didnt stay for the awards.

Decided to do my Buddy Rick Lawerences meet this coming SAT. He is going to the WPO, he is an awesome bencher. Anyway wanna see what i could bench without squatting first. Maybe less maybe more but after this it is off season. Anyway that was ti for me.

congratulations. Sorry to hear about the red lights, but nice job on the 600, and the new record!! Also, im glad to hear your injury is feeling better. Sucks that you didnt get elite, but at least you know that you can, and you soon will.

Congrats!

PLJay, good job on getting past your injury. It is good to see
that it turned out to be only of short duration.

Great job Jay. It was just a few days ago you weren't even sure if you could lift and you go and break the state record in bench!! Amazing!

Even more impressive that you hit the 600 in a 3-lift and not just a bench only. Your gonna bench huge in November!

hey man, first congrats on the 600 bench and state record!!! Aweome job!
Also most importantly, your feeling good (injury-free) so you can keep trianing and shoot for 700!!
Keep training hard so you can smoke all 3-lifts at your next meet...

DUDE FIRST OFF GREAT JOB AT THE MEET. i know if it was in my position honestly I wouldn't have even competed I know training with an injury for one lift is hard as fuck I can't imagine COMPETING in a 3 lift with an injury. I wouldn't be able to do it.

Work hard on those 3 boards and go for that 700 and WHOOP ASS. i plan on starting to train sooo fucking hard now that I'm home all summer and just working and lifting. I wanna do a meet with you guys soon. I'll look around see what meets are going on and then start saving up $$ for it. And it'll be like MARCH but WAY BETTER and STRONGER.

Jay, I'd take your numbers any fuckin' day of the week. I know you didn't do as well as you would have liked but you still put up some very impressive numbers. We all know that you can go 800+, 600+, 600+ and total over 2,000. You haven't done it officially yet, but it is only a matter of time. Keep training hard and the numbers will fall eventually. Congratulations on the APF state bench record too. I'm glad to hear that your injury didn't rear its ugly head and keep you from posting a total at all. Proud of you!

Since this is the off-season for you and you are going to focus on bench competitions until this time next year, what will your training be like? Do you just do maintenance work for your lower body?

Can you let us know how Jimmie Dean and Grimmer did at the meet? Did you take any pictures that you could post?

Thanks guys. I didnt mean to sound as negative as i did. I am in good spirits about it. I mean shit, i went like 6 bench meets one time and got only openers. But i if i had did them every 18 months it would probably cause retirtement. I had the strength. What i got red lighted on i did complete the lift. Just Not the right way! I thnk what really hurt was passing my 1st attempt squat. If Jimmie had missed his 1st he would have been stuck with an opener as well. He did great though. I knew Freak was going to pound the iron like he did. He performs well in meets and gets pumped. His composure( freak) was awesome. I mean he was wired in Dec and missed his first 2 attempt squats just probably from jitters. He was warmed up good after his scond attempt. and blew 810 like it was his opener. Were all gettign denim. We were just about the only guys there in single denim suits. So were going to up grade.

Jimme dean like i said is a sleeper. No one knows what he is gonna do. He saves his shit for the meet. He squatted under his goal fo rthe meet, he had 788 to 800 at least. He did his 705 opener and smoked it! 2nd attept with 745 he was called on depth. Came back and blew it away again.

Bench is where he freakin rose up and blew my mind. I swaer to god, i was more happy when we got back to the room about there benches especially JImmie 's then my own. Freak was hittin it in the gym , not as fast as he did but was hittin. Jimmie wasnt gettin it down in th egym. Jimmie did this
485 opener, no lift out of groove
485 smoke show!
523 fast as shit , and my god....he had more in him. He has been deserving a 500 plus bench for a long time. With he and freak going over 500 that makes all of our Lakeland crew 500 plus benchers.

Deads 600, 622, 650 all 3 lifts the man like freak got alot of lifts in. 7 for 9. That is how you win meets 7 plus out of 9.

Grimmer in his debut into a full power meets was awesome as well.squats went 440, 473,501 and man he showed heart on that last one. He am up stopped and totally muscled that bitch up. Those good mornings did the job.

Bench went 335, i believe 355 then 365. I am not totally sure. But i do know he is learnign denim very well.

Deads went 540, 585, on this he had that sucker way up to lockout. I mean dam! He was there, so much in fact , i now consider him a 585 puller. BUt red lighted. Came back and just lost his focus. I hard fought pull takes its toll on your ass. But he ended up with a 1400lb total.

We all had a good time. And had a awesome little team! Freaks uncle (nick) was a great help and was totally glad he was there to help with gear and just being there for mental prep. Had a really great time. Also it was a pretty big turnout, and all three of the biggest lifts of the day went to the board memebers or their team.

Freak 19 biggest Squat
me biggest bench
and 1dawgs guy marcus had the biggest pull.

Tell me this board aint got some knowledge!
