Muscle ups

Who here can do a muscle up and has some pointers I see scrawny kids that don't lift do them and I have watched tons of YouTube vids about it but I cant get it down... Lol

Why do you want to do them? They are pointless. Like bb said either be scrawny or really strong and use momentum to hoist yourself up. It's really that simple. There's no skill, or actual strength involved for those puny bastards. I find it funny when someone can do a bunch of pull ups, yet they can't even bench 1 1/2 times their bodyweight or sq and dl 2 xs bw and call themselves strong.

To be honest idk why I wanna do them more of a personal goal like I see I wanna do them and I'm going to work at getting it done lol

There is technique involved. Start working on a kipping motion, then work on chest to bar pull ups, then dips. Now put them together. The hardest part is the quick motion transition from pull up to dip. You have to put your chest over the bar as quick as possible to change your center of mass while switching your arm position to a dip. You doing these on a bar rather than rings? Try to find a low bar and start the motion by jumping into it rather than from a hang. They are a great power and cardio workout.

Defiantly makes sense I'm able to turn my palms down and almost push my weight forward but I have been trying on a tall bar I may get a stool and work on negatives

Interesting take...seems a little unfounded
I'm neither scrawny or just plane retarted strong but I can do a crap load of pullups strict and kipping and a few muscle ups strung together....I also bench, squat, clean and snatch a pretty significant amount...more so than most women that I know. That movement is a combination of strength and agility/ skill...especially if done on rings.

To answer the question at hand doing a muscle up on the bar or on rings is a function of developing strength by doing movements involved in the muscle up such as dips and pull ups. In my tranining to do Muscle ups I did heavy weighted ring dips and weighted chest to bar pull ups strict and kipping. You also need to strengthen your grip if your going to do it on rings....research the false grip. If your going to do it on a bar work on doing pull ups and pulling almost to your hips its a different movement than a regular pull up. After you get the strength portion down you have to work on the coordnation which is a pain in the ass. Using moment from a kip swing pulling the bar toward your hips and pusing your head through at the toplike you want to look at your knees all at the same time. When I first had to do a Bar Muscle up I ended up throwing 1 arm over the bar and then literally muscling my way up. After practice you become a lot more proficient.
