Bros,

I am working on an article about the top muscle movies of all time and I need your help.

Here's my list of the top muscle movies in no particular order:

Hercules – 1958
X-Men Origins: Wolverine – 2009
Bloodsport – 1988
300 – 2007
Conan the Barbarian – 1982
Fight Club – 1999
The Rocky Series – 1979 to 2006

And here's a link to the article on the top muscle movies of all time. What do you think are the top muscle movies ever made?

It's one of the worst movies of all time but the Rocky with Dolf has both guys in amazing shape.

Most Arnold movies....Predator, Commando, Terminators, etc

Of course, the one and only, Pumpin' Iron...but that was more of a documentary than a movie

No crazy muscle but the movie Troy.

You can prob pick a Vin Diesel movie or 2 also.

how about "American History X"?

in addition to a pumped up ed norton, several of the guys in the prison scenes look darn good.

has anyone watched the old classic "how to catch a millionaire"?

there's one poolside scene with jane russell surrounded by with what is supposed to be the American olympic swim team..those guys were in darn good shape for the time period.

Very true. I cannot believe the shape Norton got in for that movie. Prisons house some incredible physiques. Which brings the question to mind how important is diet. I mean look at what some of these guys eat very under on cals. I however am a firm believer in diet and think it is very important!

Any of the old saturday afternoon hercules movies with reg park or steve reeves as hercules.they are what got me to start lifting 41 years ago and i haven't stopped.

Pumping Iron!
Terminator(2,3)
Twins
Rocky 4

edit: in 300, those guys were in good shape, but a lot had air brushed abs, in the other movies I listed, these muscles were home grown not painted on.

not always true mate..my brothers in jail and he eats quite a good diet..trades tabacco etc for protein, carb sources etc...also has whey shakes in there.

Any Arnold movie more or less, pretty much same thing for Stallone.... damn was he jacked on the latest Rambo movie. Not sure how cut he was though since he never took his shirt off.

I have the Rocky Anthology and when his training scenes come on I get jacked up watching it to this day! And they didn't want him to play in the movie, best decision of his career was to not sell the script and play lead role! Obviously haha

The Rocky Series - specifically Rocky III and IV

Bloodsport and Quest - Vandamn movies

How you doin George?

Pumping Iron is definitely #1.

I know it's splitting hairs, but it's not a true documentary, more of a docu-drama. There were portions of the movie that were "acted" and portions that were staged to make it more entertaining. Great movie nonetheless.

It's provided consistent inspiration for me

You bring up a good point. Not to hijack the thread, but I think this has a lot to do with more than adequate rest (i.e. being locked in your cell, resting, reading etc.) and having a regimented daily routine. To a great degree you know what to expect and make the most of it.

the terminator... i cant believe someone said 2&3 because the sequels did not display arnolds physique at all...
the original is by far the best and kyle reese is in great shape too...
arnold looks jacked as all hell when he looks over the nighttime L.A. skyline...

He is jacked as hell in the second one too, the third is a descreptancy but when he is walking into the biker bar unclothed I think I would have started to run.... lol

True. It was a docu-drama. Arnold said they added drama to it that made him "the bad guy" to make it more interesting. I do believe that Arnold did get into the heads of competitors.

It sure is an inspiring movie for me.
