My wife has a hard time recompositioning when she is on birth control.
Any of you ladies have the same problem. Any way aroud it other than coming off??

thx

What kind of birth control is it? Is her diet really 100% on? It would be a good idea to get her to sign up for a elite then we can give her the personal assistance she needs.

She may not to adjust to a low hormone birth control. Certain BCs release certain hormones then others... and low dose kicks it down a notch. It's not uncommon to get weight, retain water and go get stubborn side effects similar to puberty.

she is using Yaz. Diet isnt spot on, she does mostly cardio some weights. no fat burners, no aas. Can you recomend a good program. her upperbody is fine its the back of the thighs and glutes that are stubborn

You sure it's the BC that's the problem?? ;) LOL

Tell her to cut the cardio back, get into low weight high rep/set weights and start during lunges.

estrogen can make you store fat in th e bottom half. whats her stats and diet?

5' 9" 170 +/-

she is not looking to get shredded (and I prefer a fitness look to hard body)

diet is about 1 gram protein per lb.
lots of veggies.
about 2500 cals aday.

doesnt drink, doesnt smoke, has cake when she wants it

fat burner make her twitchy doesnt like them

does light weights but mostly low impact cardio.

goes to gym 3 days a week, most weeks.

I think she is allergic to wheat her belly gets big right after
eating just alittle bit of it.

she does those programs in the ladies mags.

is she weighing and meauring her food to get that number? can you be more specific about her diet?

only 3 days of cardio? what duration? thats not nearly enough to see fat loss.

why light weights? shes gotta lift heavy!

I havent seen her weigh and measure food....
Id have to have her jump on and type that our ..I dont watch what she eats. Ill have her have a look and fill this in.

Light weight and high reps are what is the mags. I do not know womens traing. so I dont want to comment either way to which is better. That why I need your input.

Light weight/high reps is going to create tight, lean muscles but not necessarily increased strength -- also good for endurance for athletes that require a slim/trim frame to perform... high weight/low reps is going to increase muscle size and strength... not always ideal for the average female. There should be a happy medium. You SHOULD break a sweat when you work out (especially an un-fit person) but then again you SHOULD be able to do reps.... I like 15x3 (15 reps, 3 sets).... 1 minute in between each, with the third being somewhat difficult. If it's not... increase weights, if she can't do all 3 sets... decrease weight.

Women can lift the same style as men with lower reps heavier weights. If there worried about getting "manly" tell them to get over it not going to happen. It takes a lot for the average women to put on muscle plus adding muscle is actually a good thing cause you burn more calories and lose more fat.

bent my GF started the yaz 2 years ago and I feel it has wrecked her ability to loose weight. I keep telling her to switch but she just doesn't think its the pill. I sure as heck do though. Is she open to asking her dr for a diff one?

I dont see why not. This type also seems to give her headaches all the time(like every other day) I feel bad for her.

My question is this. What is the ingrediant that is responsible for the problem. And dont all birth controlsd have very similar ingrediants?

Most/All oral contraceptive (Pills) have combination hormones in them.... both estrogen and progesterone. There is something called a mini pill which has only progesterone and is considered slightly less effective. And then there are other options... ring (etonogestrel/ethinyl estradiol), patch (estrogen/progestin), injection, implant and IUD (Hormone, Mirena-Progestin... & non hormone I believe, Copper) (did I get them all?)... although IUD is not always an option. Many doctors will refuse to insert if they don't meet certain "criteria". If your girls want to maintain the pill, consider the mini pill or...

I am quoting this part from a website because I don't want to type them out...

Some birth control pills are less likely to cause weight gain. They include Brevicon, >Necon 0.5/35, >Tri-Norinyl, Triphasil, >Ortho Cyclen, >Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and the progestin-only minipills (Micronor, >Nor-QD, and >Ovrette).

I have been researching the different BCP sides, etc and came across two VERY interesting articles...
thought they may be helpful to you guys here...
I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what method is best. I have decided to try the progesterone mini pill but now I have read these articles and kind of back to square one.

they are 2 newer articles about studies that show being on the pill decreases lean muscle gains and hinders strength too.
