the mother made a couple of comments that her son was going thru strong "withdrawals"and he needed treatment. did you see the pic of the kid playing in his prime? what could he have possibly been taking and for how long to cause strong withdrawal symptons?

Coke, heroin, Poppy seed muffins?

Certainly not from steroids, they are not physically addictive so no physical withdrawal. Remember, this is a layperson who obviously didn't do any real research, therefore steroids are the same as heroin in her mind. Allowing this kind of ignorance to be disseminated is reckless. Have an endocrinologist discuss the subject of what her son may have been going through.

Right, her basic claim is that her son was depressed after getting off gear (what she calls withdrawls) and killed himself because of it.

Her and two other sets of parents who blame steroids for their kids' suicide were before congress last year and were instrumental in stirring things up... I remember watching with great annoyance at the whiny congressman bloviating on abuot how we must 'protect our nation's most precious resource, our children' blah blah

It's easy to scape goat drugs. I would bet a year's salary that had he been signed to a minor league contract he wouldn't have committed suicide had he stopped the steroids. Likewise, had he continued to use steroids and had his hopes and dreams shattered he probably still would have committed suicide. One has to wonder what role the parents played in enabling their son's unreasonable baseball obsession?

Yea the kid killed himself a month after he was done being on a cycle and they still blamed it on that! wtf.
If he came off without any PCT this would be by far the hardest part. You feel good when you're on your cycle, it's when you come off that you drag and can be a little emotional because of hormones being out of balance. Granted that the kid had serious issues, and drugs weren't by any means the cause of his death, but coming off incorrectly can definitely put you into a depression.

People who are severly depressed generally don't committ suicide. People in the middle ground between feeling better and severe depression are the most at risk. They aren't recovered but they're actually motivated enough to kill themselves. Look at the risk factors for anti-depressants, increased risk of suicide is one of them, they are in danger as the drug's effects take place but haven't taken them out of depression. Ironically, had he stayed on steroids its possible he would have felt good enough not to committ suicide. The primary cause was his obsession with baseball, which caused the depression, coming off probably hurt but he was off long enough for the initial "low" to be a non-issue. Back in the day I did plenty of test before PCT was espoused, sure I had a down but it was relative. I felt like a God on test and feeling sub par the first few weeks was more about the relative ways I felt, I wasn't very much lower than when I started the cycle, it just felt worse because of how dramatic the change was.

someone needs to make a full length documentary about someone that is using steroids and PCT correctly.

Hell, I'll be the guinea pig!
