MS why have you not use AAS

wilson6 said:
MS,

NB sent me some pics of you. Given even an optimal diet and training program, most women would need some level of chemical assistance to achieve your level of muscularity and definition. In fact, I know of some that have not even achieved what you have, despite some chemical assistance, a sound diet and intense training program.

I'd bet quit a bit on the fact that if we could match your myostatin gene up to that of the average females', you have a mutation and it is also altering your leptin sensitivity in a positive manner.

Just another example of how we are not all created equal, not even close.

http://www.mesomorphosis.com/articles/volk/myostatin.htm

We do not fully understand the roles of myostatin in exercise-induced muscle hypertrophy or regeneration following muscle injury. Until we do, it may be premature to blame the lack of hypertrophy in weightlifters on overexpression of myostatin. Nor does the research support the claim that a top bodybuilder’s muscle mass gains are resultant of a detected mutation in the myostatin gene. The research simply does not advocate blaming genetic myostatin variations as a source of significant differences in human phenotypes.

You probably know all this but wanted to sight the reference. Maybe this is now out dated.

I think that is such a ridiculous question..its like “hey why havent you took up smoking?” well maybe she doesn’t want to? And if you would see her physique, you’d see why she doesn’t NEED drugs like so many others on these boards do…whether its hard work and/or genetics…she so far chose not too.

I cant believe such a question would be asked…people are actually edging her on on past threads to take juice.

Pathetic

MS you look good, dont bother with the LOOONNGGGGG ride once you embark on drugs.

I agree! MS is a just absolutely awesome. Hell she puts most guys to shame that attend these boards...to a degree of course.

How much does genetics play a role in her success?

Answer....) Who knows? That is impossible to answer. However, I can tell you that she is one of the SMARTEST people I have ever talked to...literally. I mean, we are really blessed to have her knowledge and experiences shared and taught to us in our bodybuilding-type lifestyles. Not too many people with the education that she has, really gives a flying hoot about the goals we all share & crave on these boards. My posititive praise of her is nothing new to this board, I make this VERY CLEAR because she has also helped myself with a lot of 'things'. Also, if you really think about it, as for women bodybuilding educators that grace these discussion boards, it basically comes down to her and Elzi Volk in my opinion. However, what makes MS unique is that she does not necessarily have to 'flaunt' her knowledge to feel good about herself. How many jackass' over on the Anabolic board even know who she is? I can guarantee you it isn't very many (hopefully i'm wrong). Having her on this women's board is sort of cool because she is our's/yours (BTW...i'm a male...lol).

Some of the newer readers like Realgains that have been recently grazing this females board, were probably shocked to hell that somebody with her knowledge is not as respected/known on the anabolic board since she doesn't ever attend it? Come on there big guy, you have to admit it :) ...when ya came over here, you probably didn't expect to get such great responses huh? To all of us that have known her for awhile, she is simply part of the family, she is just plain ol' MS, and that is why we love her! She straight tells you how it is without bias, and that's hard to find nowadays. Also, I talk to cockdezl quite a bit as well (not lately), and if you need another person that is a smart bastard to tell you that she is indeed the real deal in the 'smarts' department, just ask him, as he will tell you the same.

Basicallly what I am saying is that she has the smarts to help her to her goals (as well as putting in the hard work), and genetics should not be the only factor in her case. I'll admit though, i do wonder NOW what she would have looked like with that 'Ravana' cycle...lol

BMJ

BTW...It should also be noted for those that do not know her that well that she is also a vegetarian and a MOTHER (baring a child can really put the body out of whack). I guess I can throw the 'middle-age' thing in there as well. With all this added stuff to factor in and consider, we can all say she has done her homework to get where she is natural.

I think I feel another cyper-blush coming on.....I am really, truly just an ordinary person with a passion for bodybuilding. If my passions had been otherwise then I would have had a very different physique as witnessed by the rest of my genetically similar family. I have NOT had a baby, though I am well into "middle age".

To attribute my physique accomplishments as being entirely to genetics is just plain wrong. I have seen many really good female natural physiques accomplished using the same basic principles as I use. In fact, to be completely anecdotal about it, the best female natural physiques that I have assisted have been vegetarians, or mainly vegetarian and I say that purely as an observer with no hidden biases. This is no doubt not true on a world wide scale, but then again most vegetarians that I have met have atrocious diets. So I don't personally feel that being a vego is in any way a hinderance as long as you get the diet right-same as any bodybuilder. Being a vego female may actually be an advantage if you have knowledge on your side.

Maybe one rainy day when I'm bored I'll post some photos of myself when I was younger (pre bodybuilding days). I think it will be obvious then that I am not a genetic freak that was born lean with muscles. I have in many ways been working on these muscles all of my adult life as an avid rock climber, mountaineer, kayaker and sprinter. It's just that I didn't pick up a dumbell until later in life..........

As for AAS, the biggest factor I didn't mention earlier was the cost factor. There are a LOT of other supplements that I would rather be taking and I can't even fit them into the budget. It seems silly to me to jump straight into AAS (even if it was provided free, thanks WarLobo) when I could possibly increase my non-AAS potential by supplementing with high quality vitamins and minerals (instead of the cheap crap I currently take) glutamine, creatine, ALA, aminos and even protein supps etc.......This is not a complaint, but I thought it might help to put the whole issue into perspective. AAS is really well down the wish list, though I also know that a decent cycle of something like Var would reduce my need for many of these other supps. Also, if I were to ever compete again, it would be in the IFBB affiliated comps which are all drug tested. Using Anavar (or any other AAS) would be cheating whether or not I got caught and whether or not everyone else was cheating.

CHARACTER has been described as, 'Doing the right thing, because IT IS RIGHT, even with no one watching.

MS, thanks for your statement on cheating!!! I know that you are not perfect, but it is refreshing to find wisdom, modesty, dedication, hard work, and character in an athlete.

I only wish I lived near you so my daughters could meet you. Role models are few and far between, but you sound like the real deal.

Yes, it's mainly to drive WarLobo crazy. Seems to be working so far......

Sorry MR BMJ, I do have two teenage boys (ick), but they came along with my partner so I get all the joys of parenthood (NOT) without having to have spit them outta my body. Kinda like most father's experience of parenthood! Keeping a roof over our heads and food in the bottomless pits (myself included LOL) is what keeps us poor rather than any flagrant abuse/misuse of money. You see, my partner is also a bodybuilder. You should see our grocery bills Grrrrrr.

Give me a break bro....lighten up...its a good question. I don't really care if she does or does not but it is nice to hear WHY she has chosen to not use...there is nothing wrong in asking that and I beat MS would agree 100%
