Most Underated pro ?

New member
Who do u think is the most underrated ?
Gunter Schlierkamp
Dennis James
Melvin Anthony
Garrett Downing
Lee Priest
Markus Ruhl

Or Anyone else u think ?

My vote goes to Gunter and Markus Ruhl.Poor fuckers, judges just lick em.They have paid their dues for sure

I dont find anyone on your list underrated. Markus is a great bodybuilder but his shape is off next to the top guys of today, same thing for Gunter. i think the most underated of all time was Andreas Munzer. Also Pavol Jablonicky was underrated for a long time but now seems to be getting what he deserves. Now I feel everyone is being judged somewhat fairly. I let you know after the Olympia.

Now I am not saying guys arent getting ripped off, Prince in the NOC got the shaft, I am saying the top guys are getting top placings. One guys does come to mind as I type and thats Christian Lombardi. He got the shaft at the NOC and I think he has a great physique and is always in shape.

Willy, I wouldnt say he is underated, he beat Cormeir last year. An underated guy is not gonna beat a top pro. I agree he looks good but I dont think he is underated.

DJ and Gunter both get overlooked IMO but body building comps are almost all politics so the best man does not always go home with the gold

Marcus Ruhl gets my vote. I've seen Gunter looks like absolute crap in one of his shows, and then again I've seen him look really good. Ruhl is a monster and ought to be making his way up.

I would say in the past 10 years the 5 most under rated IFBB pros are:

1. Pavol Jablonicky
2. Arron Baker
3. Darrem Charles
4. Lee Priest
5. J.J. Marsh

The rest of the guys in your list seem to get what they deserve lately...

Now for the most over rated IFBB pros:

1. Craig Titus ( a huge roid gut and a big mouth should not allow someone to be considered a top pro )

2. Paul Dilliet ( one of my all time favorite pros but he rarely competes and doesn't pose and people say he should be winning the Mr. O )

3. Nasser El Sombaty ( great bodybuilder but does show up without the best conditioning and still makes top 6 in the world , that isn't right )

4. Shawn Ray ( I respect and admire his accomplishments but he is 50 lbs lighter then the current Mr. O and he thinks he should be winning the competition using the same posing routine and song for the past 10 years )

5. Marcus Ruhl ( he lacks good proportion and shape and with these flaws he still thinks he should be Mr. O )

Arron Baker! I forgot him, see now thats underrated. I agree with you RoNiN. I also agree with your overated picks.

Ask me a couple of years ago and I would have had Dexter Jackson at #3 on my list. However in the last couple of years he has been doing well , he placed 2nd at the Toronto Pro and NOC behind Marcus and Orville. Considering how freakish and massive those two are I can accept Dexter loseing to that in this current state of pro bodybuilding.

Dexter is one of my favorite "new" pros along with Melvin Anthony , Dexter is a Shawn Ray with another 20-30 lbs of muscle spread throughout the physique. So far Dexter has been able to put on ALOT of mass since turning pro as a light heavy weight and has been able to maintain his symmetry and proportions. Most guys look worse with so much mass so soon and ruin their physiques but Dexter pulled it off. I don't know if that is attributed to his genetics or from staying away from certain substances ( synthol? hugh amounts of slin ... ) but he did a great job.

Actually if you look at Dexter and Darrem at the Toronito Pro this year they both look fantastic and have added alot of mass recently and still look make it look good... they are perfect examples of the "total package" that I would also give to Orville Burke and Ronnie Coleman if it wasn't for their distended guts...

New pro Quincy Taylor. All i can say is that is one big ass motherfucker.
i saw him on a bb show a couple of days ago, i think it was the show that turned him pro..he was like 6'4" 270lbs...looking tight...i also like victor martinez ..can't find a good pic of him to post though

Right now I'd say Mike Matarazzo, Tom Prince and J.D. Dawadoo. The most underrated for maybe all time would be Mike Francios. It's a shame that he had to quit competeing. The most overrated is Shawn Ray, by far. I've said it before and i'll say it again, if he was an amateur right now, he wouldn't be able to get a pro card. Early on he was top 10 material, but his time has passed.

paying your dues can only take you so far, once youve paid them u still have to look good to place high.

but my vote goes to dennis james, this guy has really turned around in the last 2 years.

also lee preist, too bad he fucked himself for good by talkin shit about the judges

Dennis James is awesome, but he's considered an Olympia contender. How can you be considered an actual threat to knock-off a reigning Mr. O and still be underrated? He's by far the best on the list on this thread, but he's not underrated, i don't know of anyone that would say he isn't a lock for top 6 other Shawn Gay in his little Flex interview.

Lee Priest, Aaron Baker, and Eddie Robinson. Aaron and Eddie were always overlooked after they returned to the IFBB after their stint with the WBF.

I know exactly what you mean there, but Orville was smooth at the NOC (God bless the guy...he's had some rough times lately). His stomach protruded badly. Dexter should've taken him and Ruhl, who's a total beast but has shit for symmetry (comparatively terrible forearms for his biceps, weak triceps, not enough back detail).

He's awesome. But I don't know that I truly believe he's carrying much more muscle than Ray. He doesn't at least look like he is, to me. I think Shawn's a bit shorter, but having seen those guys stand side-by-side, I thought Dexter had better balance and Shawn looked a fair amount thicker (imagine that!).

Maybe Dexter was just flat in that show. But I would like to see him come in a bit thicker in general...it'd help him immensely in the symmetry round, when he can't pose and have all that crazy detail and roundness pop out at you.

Yes. Darrem's awesome too. He could use bigger wheels and some calves, but his upper body's fantastic for someone his height.

My pick for most second-most underrated pro would be J.D. Dawodu. He's just uber-thick and strong-looking as hell; and he can come in shredded but is still blown off, so I think he thinks to himself, "Why bother coming in ripped if I'm going to get ripped off anyway?"

My number one pick is Quincy Taylor, hands-down. He was a total freak at the Ironman. He's going to clean house one of these days.

Oh, and Claude Groulx too.

What do you think of Francisco Bautista?

You think he'll join the under rated or over rated ranks? I like his physique, besides his servere gyno.

Aaron Baker and Mike Francois: both very underrated. But my vote goes to Milos Sarcev. Outstanding esthetics and a fine poser as well.

Markus Ruhl Most Underated - 280lbs monster
Dexter Jackson Most Overated - 220lbs too small, its bodybuilding right

victor martinez

Ruhl is the most underrated. He has a stupid haircut and can't speak english well so he's not that marketable.

DJ is rated one of the best, he's been in the top 3 in a Mr. O, and he'll do it again this year.

I think Gunter looks like shit. He has a bad body type.

Dexter looks like he's carved out of granite.

Over the last three years he has made consistent gains and kept his symmetry.

No one has a midsection like his and quads/hams/calves are always full and shredded. I think he may be reaching the limit for mass though. In any case, he should be number 2 at the Olympia IMO.

Although, I haven't seen him pose. This can make a big difference in the top 5 rankings.

Lee Priest would be the second in this category, aside from last year. I don't think he got his color right and didn't look as hard as past years. None-the-less, his achievements to date are remarkable. More times than not, these have gone without reward.

I dont know exactly where he stands in the the world of body building but I think Lee-Priest is THE SHIZNIT.

For me Gunter and in the past Roland Cziurlok are very very under ratted. Like Pavol and Dillet

On the other hand I think Coleman and James are very over ratted (I don't like there montrous physique)
