I think it is because society is slightly more tolerant than it was in the past. Therefore people find it safe to come out.
Whatever I doubt much harm will come to you from gay people (for those who fear them). I figure if they have no effect on your life then why give a shit . Who are we to impose values regarding sexual orientation on others. Plus it's mostly men taking the shit for homosexuality, people fawn over women having sex it's quite the hypocracy.
Heheheh and yeah, the Spartans were quite frisky, there is a homosexual stereotype attached to Greece but no matter.
